Sorry to have missed this last xceptional, time-stamped entry. He certainly would cry and die, all over again. So would Mama, my five brothers and all of my ancestors.
Sending you my best today as always.

Excellent job. I love that you managed to make a political statement without ever mentioning a politician. Plus, you added a bit of dark humor. I enjoyed this.

It's been a long time since we've had "news" -- what we have now is commentators and "pundits" cramming their left or right extremist views on us with no basis in truth or cold hard facts. Oh, for a Walter Cronkite now!

You are absolutely right. And for your two cents I don't mind telling you that today's news reports suck. They are more magazine than news. The reporters are paid to present the lean of the ownership. Gone are the days of simply reporting the news.
PBS comes (in my opinion) closest to news reporting, if you can tolerate Amna's "How do you feel?" touchy-feely questions to victims.
Best wishes.

Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us. I remember when newsmen were actually newsmen and brought the news. Back in the day, they weren't political hacks. Good luck with the contest.

You've said a whole lot with so few words. And yes, Cronkite and all the other credible news people from the past are most likely glad to have been from another time. A time when journalism was reporting on facts and unbiased media, rather than opinionated hogwash and propaganda. Thanks for sharing.

"the political world has changed" Well, I think there's still the same bickering, finger-pointing and antagonism.
"Glad You're Not Here" But maybe these may have been exciting/interesting times for him, who knows.
Nicely met the syllable count requirement for each line.
Good luck in the contest!

Exactly on point. Lovely set up. I sure needed a break from my unpacking. I swear to you the unpacked boxes doubled while I was asleep.
I have found a few things I forgot I had. That's always nice. Well, back to the grindstone. Karen :-)

It amazes me that America is where it is, Australians are fairly neutral politically speaking, and there isn't the nastiness and angst, they seemed to have strayed from those principles that once marked politics, beautifully written Blessings Roy
