Oliver is one creepy dude. His threat to punish her is really chilling and, strangely, apparently helps her remember hiding in a closet when her brother killed their parents. So, she doesn't really know if he did kill their parents, only that he pled guilty. You need a comma for emphasis after There it is(,) a slight . . .

This very much has the feel of those old horror flicks, like Amityville or Poltergeist, where all the reasons and warning flags are there, but the protagonist just will not leave. Good stuff.

Wow, Jacob, so much is going on here at a deeper level isn't there. But then again so much has happened that would be difficult to perceive for most people. I can't wait where you're taking this. Ulla:)))

There's so much more going on. I can't wait to get to it. I still believe Danielle and Callum need to get out of there as fast as possible. Nothing good will come of them being there. I do like this story.

Wow, how awkward was that? Poor girl gets caught with her hand in the cookie jar. Of course, this makes her feel there are cameras about.
She also notices the difference between what he asks of his followers and what he has in his room. Also, she finds the terror around Oliver equal to the terror she felt when her parents were killed. She's definitely hitting on something there.
Take care and thanks for sharing,
Rhonda

Well done, Jacob, for conveying the tension so well in their meeting. I could feel Danielle's fear overcoming her and her usual more forthright attitude dissipating. This was excellent. Well done, Jacob! Debbie

She shouldn't have taken that so meekly when he suggested having to punish her. It would have been a good time to say, this isn't working out and I think I'd better leave. She was likely too upset to do anything other than get out. I'm enjoying reading this story. This seems like a religious cult but I've not seen any preaching or lectures.

Oliver almost showed is true self... I'll have to punish you???? Now Danielle is crying and scared, but she still isn't leaving....or maybe they can't now. You are doing a great job with the story, Jacob. Keep up the good work!
