Hi Anonymous,
This is a lovely 5-7-5 of the plight of fires burning the beautiful trees on Madiera Island. The cycle of burning and restoration is nature's way of replenishing. Even though it is an amazing process, the pain of losing any tree is heartbreaking.
This poem spoke to me.
Good luck!

Excellent poem about this beautiful island. A friend of mine went on her honeymoon to Madeira Island. It is sad about the trees burning but at least they grow back. "Sings five hundred year old songs" is a marvelous line that shows the character and essence of the island.

I have visited Midiera many times and they have a Japanese garden which is gorgeous. I have visited at Christmas and in the summer and it is a beautiful place and Winston's Churchill loved Madeira. A fine poem and I had no idea they had forest fires, love Dolly x

Thank you for for taking the time to read this and leave such a lovely review. Yes, the Japanese garden is beautiful and Churchill did love it there. There's a statue of him and a couple of restaurants named after him too. Thanks again for the kind words. Much appreciated
