I'm glad you went with your gut on whether to include dialogue or not. It moved fine. I always like it when you give us the historical context with the events that were current then. I have heard of those actors but they were before I was born so I was not familiar with the movies.

Thanks, Helen. Some people think if you don't have dialogue it isn't complete but so I just put that in to show to much dialogue makes the story unnecessarily long.

Beth, you have had an interesting life. You tell your story so well it's easy to follow and the characters are well developed.
I married my cousin but in Spain is not a big deal as long as you get the church's blessing and permission. Our children are very intelligent and grown to be well adjusted adults, kind and talented artists. My daughter owns and manages her own company and my son works for Google.
I was driving Dad's car..... so I could have more fun during (00my) senior year.
I remember watching From Here to Eternity though I was born later on.
Wonderful chapter

Thank you, Gypsy. Our president Franklin Roosevelt married his first cousin but he a misstress as well. I don't think it is a big deal. I cousin Dave's sister was married to her dad's first cousin and her children are very intelligent. Some starts make it illegal but other don't.

Thank you, Cecilla. I don't think I realized I was having a great childhood but looking back I think it was. Our family didn't have a lot of money but I was happy and that is important.

Beth,
You're welcome

Oh yes, I can remember noteworthy years in my life which would determine the course of that life, although basically I did little to plan those years, but God engineered a lot of incidences in my life, and I'm reading the same things in your story Beth, well done, teens are an interesting time, well done, blessings Roy

It's a nice coming-of-age story. Your description of the 50s and 60s made me nostalgic and brought back memories. It was an innocent time when a thrill was driving by a possible boyfriend's house. Thanks for the memories. gayla

You have an amazing memory for all those details! One thing that amazed me was how young one can get a driver's licence in the US. Here in Australia, one cannot get a learner's permit until one is sixteen, and one has to be always accompanied by a licensed driver. There is a comprehensive computer test on road rules even before you can get the permit plus an on-road strict test. Then you are on probation for two years. I enjoyed your story.

Thank you, Wendy. It is a bit more difficult to get a license these days. The age is 16 days. You can get a learner permit earlier to drive with an adult in the car, but if you're sixteen you have to pass a written test and driving test and there no waiting period. It is against the law to have alcohol before 18 here but in Europe, it don't think there is such a law.

This read fine and the stories are moving along well, as always I can't wait to hear more, and so funny you shared the stage with your first boyfriend at 5 yrs old.

This is another interesting chapter with lots of details and description.
I actually remember the day it was declared Eisenhower had won the presidency. I had sprained my ankle in school and my mother was wrapping it while watching TV. She explained what a president was.
Many of your stories remind me of my own experiences during the time, but I'm enjoying your fascinating trip down memory lane.

I enjoyed your continued story of your young life Beth with snippets of history of that time to remind us of the mood of the country and the trends at the time. It sounds like something major will change the course of history for you in your next chapters, I enjoyed the ride, love Dolly x

Comment from Debbie D'Arcy
I much prefer not having too many family members to consider. And this chapter provides a lovely selection of historic facts to bring the period to life. Against all that, your coming of age is a pleasure to read. I wouldn't mind betting that your prospective husband is round the corner in the next read. Thank you for sharing, Beth. Take care Debbie
But soon we('d) be back together again
Aunt Allene insisted Dave stay (with her) - sounds a bit neater.
and developed (an) instant crush on him
so I could have more fun (in) my senior year
but compared to the present day it seem(s) things (thing?) ran smoother
'seemed' wouldn't be in the past tense because it couldn't be compared at the time with the future)
In the notes - When a story moves (from) one incident...

Thank you, Debbie, I realize these characters, many of whom are my relatives mean little to my fanStory readers. Since my family members are familiar with them and I started this book for them, I feel they should be there. It is sort of a genealogy record as well. You guess that I might meet the love of my life is a good one although I still won't realize the how my life will change right away.
As always, I appreciate your editing help.
