This is beautiful and so true. I hope you actually got to go be by a stream. I too find that when I need to get centered and find real inner peace that sitting by a stream and listening to the water helps me find that inner peace.

I love the details you've included with "listening to the call of birds and hearing the rustle of leaves as a doe with her fawn pass by." In reading your very well written short story, I was easily carried away to my teen years, in the country - as partly described in my novel, The Question.

I think this would qualify as prose-poetry. Don't you, Debbie?
It is very lyrically descriptive by its phrasing['feel the breeze as the trees ever so gently move.' (as the trees move ever so gently is less poetic). You have done this through out the piece giving it a beautiful flow.] and I love the feel/emotion it evoked -- a quiet restful, meditative moment.
