Living in a rural area of Georgia, I can spot 2 or a dozen squirrels in my yard at any given time. I have a love/hate relationship with them, and for the same reasons you so aptly described in your well-written story. I enjoyed reading and relating with your delightful story.

I live on nineteen acres right over the Georgia line in Tennessee, and if you need more squirrels, I'll shoo them your way. LOL Thanks for a great review.

An interesting and lovely story, and a well told one. I understand your inability to kill squirrels, or any other animal. They have been part of your life since childhood and your recounting of experiences with them was excellent.

Oh gosh, I laughed at your squirrel antics. There was a car commercial many years back about that the rat and squirrel are from the rodent family so does the fluffy tail make the squirrel more desirable? Absolutely, it says. We had a squirrel come into our house when I was a kid. We got it trapped upstairs. We lived in a small town so there wasn't an animal control officer. So the local police came: picture Andy Griffith. A kid that worked at the gas station next door came over too. That trapped squirrel was loud! It finally made it out the open window but it was exciting! :) Thanks for sharing! Sally

This is a good story. My son had trouble with some. I thought I was smart one day I set on the ground with two traps and waited for them to come get my nuts. I was so proud I caught the both of them I excitedly ran in and told my son because I knew he would be glad but when I went out to check on them they were gone. I called back and told him they were gone and how on earth did they get through. He said, "Mom they are babies and small enough to get through. Well, Well I was discourage because instead of killing he was going to take them some where else. Maybe I'm wrong but should your sentence read> I didn't know what to expect, You did a great job.

This story says alot, about the author's compassion for squirrels, and about the patience of the author's husband, and the wonderful kindness the pair showed to the persistent squirrels they encountered.

Well written. An enjoyable read.

Thank you so much for the review and comments on this story. All my friends thought we were nuts painting the squirrel tails. I would like to know what people wondering through the park where we took them thought of those colorful tails.

I share your love of squirrels, I have a few poems about them in my portfolio and a fantasy squirrel tale, Floyd and the Squirrels. I am glad you relocated them, I find them interesting to watch and they eat much of the birdseed I put for the birds. I enjoyed your story which is well written and holds the reader's interest.

I'm glad you liked this. I'll have to look for Floyd the Squirrel. I still like them although they do some things to anoy me like digging in my flower pots. They're probably hiding nuts. I really appreciate the six stars.

I enjoyed your story about all the different incidents you have had with squirrels. They can be quite destructive and pests at times. We have a lot of them around our apartment building, and we are not supposed to feed them, but some people do. Last week, one got into a new Geranium plant on my balcony and destroyed about a third of it. They can climb right up the side of the brick building to get on the balconies.

That was so funny! Squirrels are cute to look at, but ruthless when it comes to the food counter. No other wild life gets a look in. We had a long metal pole and stuck it in the middle of the garden with a table on the top for the birds food. We then greased the pole, that stymied the little blighters, but they never gave up trying. LOL What we have to do! I enjoyed your story, Beth. Well done. I have a similar one about a frog, I'll write about it one day. xx Sandra xx

Thank you Sandra, I'm so glad you got a laugh from my story. I greased a pole too, but the kept leaping and sliding down until they got all grease off enough they could climb it. I look forward to reading your frog story.

This is a funny and very entertaining story about your trials and tribulations with squirrels. Each encounter was amusing and saw that you were shoveling against the tide of squirrels.
I leave dry cat food out for the feral cats and now have the fattest squirrels in the town.
Thank you for the smiles.
Regards,
Mary

I feed them, and several come up expecting peanuts. I have hunted them in the wild and eaten them for survival. Enjoyed your story. I bet Evan went by himself, never letting you know.LOL. They can be a nuisance and blow out electricity transformers.

Evan took up deer hunting for while, but I thnk he didn't have heart to do it any more after he shot a deer with an arrow and the deer ran off with the arrow still in him. He did kill two with a rifle. Thanks for reading my story.
