What a lovely sentimental poem about the old man and a boy, who is "gramps." I love the detail of how the fishing line is explained in the second stanza. A nicely written sedoka poem. Good luck in the contest.

The image combined with your Sedoka make a nostalgic and well composed entry for the contest. I like the word "mosey" which reinforces the lazy summer day feeling. Good luck with this fine entry. Marilyn

I really enjoyed writing this one because the picture made it easy. I am so pleased you like ?mosey? as it was my intent to convey a lazy, hazy summer mood. Many thanks for your kind praise, Marilyn.

This Sedoka poem, Fishing Buddies, has the correct formatting and transitions from the indefinite to the specific. The characters of the poem are personalized by switching from a third person observation to a first person identification. Nice.

I am new on here, so I am really enjoying learning about new styles of poems. This is a beautiful poem about time together with a loved one. My first thought after reading it was, that it would be nice, in an art museum, if poems like this would be accompany each painting. I guess that shows how well your poem and picture go together :-) great job all around!

I am truly flattered to think this shortie might accompany the painting in a gallery. Thank you for your very kind comments.

You know how some paintings are pretty but you would like to know the meaning behind them? That's what made me think of your poem. Have a great day!

-Very nice image and presentation.
-Syllable count is good.
-You create a good picture of
the grandfather fishing with
his grandson.
-I like the alliteration in
"shimmering summer day"
-The second verse is a good
description of the grandpa's joy.
-Good luck in the contest.

Memories of fishing days with my Dad. Where to cast. Feel the line. Always fish upstream or you will be seen. Let them play before you set the hook.
Trout for Sunday breakfast, rolled in oatmeal and fried with bacon.
Those were the days.

Cute and very emotional. At least for me. I fished with my grandfather a few times. I'm sure I tested his patience, He said I was scaring away the fish.
