Pets can have very definite likes and dislikes. Heaven help you if you buy a brand they don't like. I don't have any suggestions to make. It's great as it is.

A really cute photo and good color combination. However, there was no depiction of the dog being witty in personality or action which is a core requirement. Good syllable counts.

The witty part is that he will eat only wet (canned) dog food. He will not be outwitted by putting dry food in its place.

My entry depicted a parrot.

Doubt if the contest developer meant to limit the challenge just to birds that may vocalize. Merriam Webster Dictionary says witty behavior also means: comical, amusing, entertaining and whimsical. I did not believe the developer meant to limit the choice of animals.

My review is based on my reading of the poem and not what you were intending. Even with your explanation, I really don't find the dog to be witty by refusing to eat dry food. In this process of review, it's important to share the reader's (reviewer's) perspective. That's the benefit of the process. I'm sorry I don't find the dog funny or amusing. I'm certain I'm not alone. However, I may be in the minority of reviewers who try to provide objective feedback. I have seen way too many 5 ratings, even on my own work, without objective criticism. This is why it is a web site policy that an author is not supposed to give feedback to the reviewer which is a defense of the work. Good luck with your poem.

Loved it! Made me think of my very own fur children. They too only eat canned food, not dry food. They request it themselves always meowing out and pawing at the cabinet doors. Thank you for sharing and good luck with the contest!

This is an excellent 5-7-5 poem and entry for the witty animal contest
