I think this is a good entry for the Senses Poetry contest.
I agree with your verse. A whiff of something from my past often takes me down memory lane.
Well done and good luck to you with the contest.

Amazingly written!!
I could easily relate and it bought my memories back from the old time.
No vagueness and the ideas the clearly visible. It just had a couple of things but explained beautifully

This in my opinion is a great entry! I loved the imagery and how you were able to convert it with one sense as the contest rules present. I really like this line which made me read on and give the 6
The nose never forgets what stirs the heart,
that line really pulled me in to read the whole piece.
You did a really good job. Good luck and keep writing on

Hi, I've seen quite a few of these poems from the prompt. It would be an idea to compile them as a book. The Aroma of Life, you know, snapshots of associations through scent.
I enjoyed your take on the sense of smell, which for me is powerful. I love the smell of rain, in Australia we never get enough, and it has this amazing smell.
I found this a quaint line:
The nose never forgets what stirs the heart,
My fave smells are horses, babies, bitumen, fresh bread, and the next is a confession of sorts. Something I'd never say around the dinner table, but I love the smell of Brut aftershave on men. I just love it, it's dirt cheap, not at all sophisticated, you can buy it in the supermarket, lol, but it presses all my olfactory buttons.
Where indeed can the sense of smell take you? Good poem, cheers, Eve.

Your lovely poetic lines vividly and movingly describe the power of the sense of smell to awaken memories--good and bad, as you say. Shortly after the husband of a friend of mine died, she suddenly smelled his after shave--just a brief whiff. She was in her kitchen.

This is a wonderful scents poem. The sentiment caught me and kept me. I hope this is for a contest and that you win. Your art choice is good! Thanks for the reminder of how aromas affect our memories. So true!

Yes how very true - scents do indeed awaken memories - effectively evoked here with childhood moments recalled - our sense of smell serves us very well
