I totally agree with your line of thought...
... my parents had their own travel business ..but they did a lot of travelling for personal pleasure too....one of their first road trips was to Spain , they hired a red sports car and hit the road , they explored the the Spanish coast from the Pirenei right down to Malaga.
They explored by car endless times our bell'Italia also...instead of the noisy crowded well known tourist sites , my papa ' preferred the side roads ..that 's where he knew they would find hidden gems : picturesque villages tucked away , trattorie with delicious home made food , a beautiful setting near a creek where to enjoy the local small goods and wine just bought.
Of course your poem is also a metaphor ...even in life people should take chances ... take the unknown road and in so doing break the monotony in their life ..
...if you alway chose the known road you risk ending up existing and not living .. your life will be dull and boring..
This entry says a lot and truly merits more votes ...

Tempeste,
Truly outstanding that you awarded me another six.
Being a Gemini, I like the variety and am rarely bored.

Two of my favorites, Robert Frost and Yogi Berra - I enjoyed your Seryu and the picture you chose. I agree with the sentiments about taking chances, something I have always tried to do. The biggest problem today is being confined at home... boredom has definitely settled in.

We are in sync with our favorites. Yes, unfortunately, this period of isolation includes boredom. However, that gives us the freedom to post frequently on this site. If you like Haiku poems, visit the free site at thehaikufoundation.org. If your submission is accepted, it costs nothing to post and no funny moneys are earned for the same.

Thanks for the tip. I'll check this out.

Truth be told. In order to keep ourselves from the mundane day to day living it's important to venture to new territories and discover the beauty of the journey and each other. Your spot on!

Hi Gina!
My allusion to the 1994 movie, where Forrest Gump says ?My mom always said life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get.? is the idea for my title. Your very nice comments align with my thinking - THANKS. Unfortunately, venturing out to explore new territories is now severely restricted by social distancing protocols.

well, I love your poem and I love yogi's version of Robert Frost's. That's funny and clever.
A lollipop street is a new one on me, and I must admit I don't get that it describes a fork in the road. I will have to Google it.
Any way, thanks for sharing both your poem and author's notes.

imagine a round shape of a lollipop on a stick and then extrapolate that to a dead end or circular street - no matter which way you go - left or right - you arrive at Yogi's home (-;
-
a circular street - got it.
thanks.

-Great image and quote.
-Notes are appreciated, too.
-The syllable count is good,
along with the topic.
-The message is a good one.
-You don't get too far without
taking some chances here and there.
-A good concluding line, as well.
-Good luck in the contest.

I love to travel on photo-safaris through unexplored (by me) territories. What a wonderfully written poem and you got a Yogism in!
Good luck in the contest!
Have a great day and God bless.

Stay safe. Keep healthy yourself. Yogi was a real character and a great baseball player for sure. The Yankees was my favorite American league team; the Dodgers in the other league!

I love this way of thinking. I'm an adventurer. The photo even compliments the poem in so many ways. Like, you could want to be a cliff diver or want to journey out to sea. Taking the adventurers road is so much better... and does prevent boredom. Well written. -January L.

January,
As an adventure, I am willing to hike but no cliff diving for me. (-;
THANK YOU for your encouraging review. moi
