I am with you...sometimes my best lines, or ideas come at night while I wake for sleep to bless my dreams. But, instead, the most beautiful lines come to my mind, the stillness, the roar of a car passing by...where it is going? What i can say, I enjoyed your essay.

I love your self musing, and raising Leonard Cohen as a fount of wisdom, (I love that song, I actually sung it to the hungry poor at a giveaway food place) but I suspect his wisdom was extracted from a religious background, the lyrics could be slightly off pitch scripture, he had enough talent to get away, as any would do for the benefits, this is a great piece of pondering, richly humble and learned at the same time, well done Jay, good to have you back, blessings Roy

Lack of sleep IS serious business - wish I could capitalize on it. But my middle of the night rambles aren't as clever as yours.
I do have to say that I love listening to the rain - it's soothing. And it doesn't put you to sleep? Well, anybody who can be funny about not sleeping gets a 6 from me. Good job.
