Fun!! Thank you for sharing this with us. I bet you're the hit of many family get togethers. I can't imaging any different. I would never have thought of this. This is great.

What a nice treat. Very clever, the way you've included so many song titles and in a story that makes sense and has a plot too!
"...blessings for the season fell like the snow." Well done.

Hello Sal.
There were a couple of songs I was not familiar with but the rest of them came right off the page. You did a good job of creatively sewing them into the words.
There is one little sentence I would like to suggest a change:
"At last we feasted, for hours it seemed, and gave and received gifts."
"We feasted for hours, then gave and receive gifts." (it is a little more active I think)

Hi Sally, this was a fun Christmas story and very well thought out. And so many songs you could come up with. Wonderful. I hope you and yours had a beautiful day today.
My Christmas is over. Where I grew up, Christmas eve is the night when we celebrate the season with a family dinner. Afterwards we light the candle lights, yes real candles, on the tree and we walk slowly around it, singing some of the carols. And then the gifts are picked one by one under the tree and handed out. Yes it takes all night. And then it's time for a much needed night cap (adults only) and the celebrating is finally over. Today, the 25th, is for relaxing and or going to friends for a lively lunch. Now, what I'm describing is pre-covid.
I loved your story. Ulla xxx

What a fun challenge and I must admit, I did not do very well with the list, so I cheated and looked through the answers and back to the story... haha, so fun. Thanks for a great diversion on my slow, slow Christmas afternoon. Have a lovely day, Sally.

Hi Sally, and Merry Christmas!
You put a lot of work into this, and it was fun trying to pick out the songs, so a sixer for you!!!
I found 18 songs.
But I bet my "Rejoice" is not the same as yours. Mine is from Neil Paul Stookey's 1982 album, "Wait'll You Hear This".
Rejoice (Bless The Lord)
"Bless the Lord my soul
Praise his holy name forever
Who has made the world
Now shall bring his people together
Author of the word
Author of our one salvation
Come ye Prince of Peace
And the hope of every nation
Let the heavens declare
The word be fulfilled
Every mountain and hill
Rejoice
Rejoice
Rejoice
Rejoice
Rejoice
Rejoice
Oh come unto the Lord
Enter his gates with thanksgiving
Ah make a joyful noise
Come before him with singing
Every knee shall bow down
Every tongue confess
Every heart that thirsts for righteousness
Will rejoice
Rejoice, rejoice, rejoice, rejoice, rejoice, rejoice
Rejoice, all the people of the world
Rejoice"

Paul also does a great job with "The Holly & The Ivy"
https://youtu.be/tUkwqXHuNsk
and a nice job with "In the Bleak Midwinter"
https://youtu.be/_vXgz9HUdZk
(I used to play this on guitar on Christmas Eve with our pastor, Edward Powell, who played flute.)
One of my favorites is from "A Charlie Brown Christmas",
"Christmastime Is Here".
I hope you have a blessed day with your family! Thanks for this fun post on Christmas Day!
Hugs,
Kimbob

What a beautiful way to tell a story through songs. Very enjoyable reading indeed! This is the most wonderful time of the year. The songs will fill our hearts with joy and remind us of the reason for the season. Merry Christmas!

What a clever idea--a clue-strewn jolly jaunt--charming Christmas offering--an tuneful diversion from the dissonance of the season. I've thoroughly enjoyed the journey!
