I think I just read the winner of the Nice U.S. Political Poem contest. You hit the nail on the head with your words. Politicians seem to have forgotten they work for We the People. Very nice job. Good luck in the contest.

I like your entry for the "nice political" contest. I found it difficult, if not ludicrous to combine the two words, but I gave it a try, also.
Yours, I feel, is more what Tom had in mind.

This poem truly lives up to the contest mission, since it is not angry or spiteful, as most political rhetoric tends to be. I love the image you chose to complement the clever words. It also has a nice rhythm.

This is very good, and so far is precisely what this contest was intended for. You looked at both sides and listed positive things they both stand for. There is no hint of bias or negativity.

You present a balanced view, as the contest requires. It is refreshing to see an argument that considers both sides of the coin. It is also interesting to me that the words democracy and republicanism both essentially mean the same thing - government by the people, for the people, through elected representatives. The current polarisation into opposites is a mystery to me.

A lot of rules and quite a challenge. It didn't come easy, to extoll the virtues of the opposing political party, but I bit the bullet. Thanks so much for reading my poem. :)
