Your contest entry read well. I enjoyed reading it. Your notes
clarified your words perfectly. It will be interesting to see what
happens with the monarchy now.
Thanks for sharing and best wishes in the contest, Jan

Thank you for your review. I originally posted this in March 2021 as a work of fiction in a dribble contest. It didn't place but I brought it back when the queen passed away.
At the time I wrote it I was cognizant that she was approaching her final years though certainly didn't wish for her early demise.

-Thanks for sharing the image, notes, and story, John.
-I was reading some of the news online and saw the story about "London Bridge is Down."
-You wrote a good story with a good opening.
-He sounds like the type of person who is darn proud of his Queen.
-A good conclusion, as well. It will be hard to get used to "God save the King" now.
-Good luck in the contest.

The guard in this story seemed remorseless about the passing of the queen, and pleased to have a reason to order a brandy. So goes it, reactions will differ from one person to the next.
This is a current topic covered in flash fasion.
Well done.
Best wishes.

So many here are mourning and writing about the death of her majesty. The whole world mourns a real class act.
This dribble is timely and says it all. Great job!

Today, unfortunately, the off-duty guard's proclamation is true. Tributary poetry has already been posted on this site. The world will morn the loss of the longest-reigning monarch. I wish you the best in the dribble flash fiction contest.

The signs were all there, she just lost her husband of many years not long ago. It will be interesting to see what happens next. What a wonderfully written story.
Good luck in the contest!
Have a great day, and God bless.

This is an excellent entry for the Dribble Flash Fiction contest. I am hard pressed to think of another contemporary figure who commands so much respect and affection, while acting with dignity, charity, humility and grace. Perhaps the Dalai Lama.

I'm so sorry! I actually just heard the news here on FanStory! I checked my news source, and they already had a tribute up for her. A lovely queen.
Sending you my best today as always and condolences in your loss.

I like this flash story, end of the world moment, turned out to be pleasant and humorous. I admired the skill of this writing. I also like the fluency and flow of the words.

This, of course, is a supposition? Is that what will happen? It is so difficult to imagine Elizabeth, gone. She has been the solid mainstay of Great Britain for over seventy years. That must be the longest reign.

Yes those exact codes will be sent by the Palace to every media outlet as confirmation that the queen has passed away. Everything thereafter has been pre-planned for this eventuality by the queen herself.
