It looks like "IT" from the Addams family---yet fluffy and soft. I had not heard of it before and loved learning of it. I have never seen it in my grocery stores, but I imagine a specialty market would be the place. You complied with the rules of the poetry and gave us a grand write.

This mushroom surely does look like a ball of fur. They definitely done look edible in nature. I would guess there is meat under all the "fur''.
Good luck in the contest.

-Good image, presentation,
and informative notes.
-You have used your 15
syllables well with a good topic.
-Effective nature imagery with
the rain, clouds, and sun, and
how they nourish
"this prideful mushroom."
-Good luck in the contest.

A very well written and educational poem. Yes, I heard of the benefits of lion's mane mushroom supplements, though I never tried them (look scary for ingestion, lol). Excellent research and author notes. I love your presentation.
Best of luck in the contest.

You have made excellent use of your fifteen syllables in this appealing, descriptive poem. That mushroom looks more like an embellishment than a food! :-)

The first two lines of this poem flow and connect well. The last line
says it all! Thank you for the author's notes - I love knowing the history!
The artwork is awesome and compliments both the theme and words of
this poem. Have a great day!....Maria

Interesting haiku. I have never come across the 'lion's mane' mushroom. You have described well in your short poem and the accompanying pic endorses it. Good luck!

Wow, what a cool mushroom! I had to look it up. I love that you added a recipe to try! Your poem is very beautiful. I love that you show the spectrum of weather the mushroom requires, which adds to its credentials, as it can survive both hot sun and cool rain. Calling it prideful is a nice homage to its name and the animal for which it is named, but also its appearance. It truly stands out! This is a mushroom that really wants to flaunt what its got! Great work!

I have never seen a Lion's Mane mushroom before, I didn't even know such mushroom exist, which leads to the point, a great poem is at its best, introducing its readers to something they have not seen before.
