This is a marvelous companion poem for "Casey at the Bat." My husband used to be a golfer, so the lingo was familiar. The rhyming is superb and the rhythm, excellent (Just a spot or two with a wrong syllable emphasis), but overall-outstanding! I really enjoyed reading it.

Thank you so much, Verna, for the great reviews and the 6! I really appreciate it.

You have dealt with one of my very favorite poems. Years ago, I could recite it from memory. There are a few places where you could touch up the meter, but you have made my day. Are you familiar with the other two Case poems?

Thank you so much for the 6, Paul. I have always liked that poem very much too. What are the Case poems you are referring to?
-
The other two poems are "Casey's Revenge" and "Casey Twenty Years Later". My book is in another building, and I don't remember the poets' names. They are really great.

This is terrific. I don't know anything about the game of golf, but you really kept to the rhyme scheme and produced a wonderfully amusing sports poem. I enjoyed reading this, it was fun! Thanks for sharing.

This was so much fun to read, Jim! I am familiar with Casey at the Bat and could certainly recognize the similarities, but you've added your own distinct creative touch and made it uniquely yours. I loved it all the way through. It is so well done as far as meter and rhyme and tells such a captivating story too. Great fun!! MM

Thanks so much, MM. This is high praise indeed coming from the master of rhyme and meter. I've always loved "Casey at the Bat" from the time I first read it as a child. I played baseball as a kid and loved it for that reason, but I also loved it just for the sound of it--how well it flowed.

I have no sixes, sorry. The Augusta National is just a few miles from me and has been for over fifty years, yet I have never been to a game there or shown any substantial interest in it. Yet, because of being in golf land supreme, I was attracted to your story. It was well-written
Thank you for writing.

How about that. Maybe I've sparked a new interest then?

You did a great job parodying the original, Jim.
I enjoyed reading your fun poem. Your rhymes
were great, the flow was smooth, and the story
believable. This should've been in a story poem
contest. The color scheme and image were perfect.
I know a little about golf and was able to follow your
story with no problems.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

My favourite line? "The crowd held its collective breath as goosebumps topped their skin". Never has a golf game been made to sound so exciting! Well done.

Only a golfer could write this poem and I loved the humour, the action on the course, your clever rhyming and metre brought this poem to life and I just wish I had a six for you, a magical poem, a pleasure to read it Jim, love Dolly x

I remember a cartoon about Casey, it was very funny, but it was accompanied by a poem, I love this suspenseful, by the way, my one and only 18 hole venture into gold, I shot a 106, but I didn't like the game atall, even though I was sport mad at the time. Your skill at poetry is amazing Jim, well done, blessings Roy

Thanks so much, Roy. You must have been quite an athlete to shoot 106 for 18 holes your only time playing. That's phenomenal! I've known guys playing all their lives who can't shoot that.

Thank you John, the golf swing is similar to the cricket shot, I was a top order batsman, it was a calm day wind wise. Many of our country?s cricketers are scratch golfers.

The choice of green color is a good one. It fits perfectly with golf game.
It isn't easy to describe a golf game with so many twists. You tried and did a good job. Anxiety and disappointment from the player are shown. Well done.
Thanks for sharing.
