And what a big head Pluto had. Just like the dog Walt Disney invented. I liked your humor take on the planet.
Lessons to be learned, not only by the planets, but man is the same. When found a clown, hangs his head in shame. Loved your writing. K xx

Thank you so much, K, for the good review and the 6 stars. Much appreciated. It's interesting that the character Pluto was created by Disney in the same year that Pluto was discovered (1930). Probably not a coincidence.

Definitely not. Disney was a man of foresight. K xx

Well I'd say you aced this one. And what a fine children's book this would make, and for those of us adults who do the reading.

I can see some wonderful artwork here, making this a fine way to learn about the planets, and few good manners in the process.

Well, well done.

Gloria

Just as I got used to nine planets in the universe now there are only eight, and Pluto has to be put on the backburner until it grows up. This is superbly written Jim, you are very good at rhyming, rhythmic poetry, and a darn good raconteur, a good writer Jim, blessings Roy

Nothing like a healthy slap upside one's dome to gain the recognition that you are not all that. Once you have been forced to publicly recognize and admit that you have erred, and thus made to show a bit of humility, you may regain a measure of acceptance and forgiveness.

I think he learned his lesson. The insults certainly weren't working, and I guess he decided he liked the feeling of all that praise from the Earthlings.

Very interesting, very amusing and technically very well written. The notes are excellent and the rhyme and rhythm make it a pleasure to read. You are able to write very well about subjects you might think are innately unpoetic!

Well, I'm thrilled Pluto had a change of heart, Jim. Your poem
was fun to read. You did a great job with the rhymes, the flow,
and the story. I believe, Pluto, like some people, could have been
considered a bully. I found it sad when the real Pluto was demoted.
Your story would be enjoyed by middle elementary school kids.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

Thank you so much, Jan. I appreciate your excellent review. I think you're right about the proper age range if I were to try to make this into a children's book.

Jim.., Great conclusion to your Pluto poem. I found it comical with multiple lines I could highlight.

Your author notes also add a historical note to the entire post.

Were you in tune with the Masters over the weekend?

John

Thanks so much, John, for your great review and the 6 stars. I have indeed watched the Masters, but I haven't watched the back 9 on Sunday yet. I'll have to watch it tomorrow to see how it comes out.

Hi Jim, I really like how you personalise Pluto. At first I thought you used him as a metaphor for some vile persons on earth at the moment, until I realised you really were talking abou the wee planet. I liked your poem a lot. I'm not opposed to your wife's views. I think she has a point. Ulla:)))

Yep, always about Pluto himself. I hated when they took away his planethood and decided to make a story out of it. My wife and I had a lot of fun psychoanalyzing Pluto.

Pluto learned to get along with the rest of the planets after meeting more than his match in Earth. This poem is excellent with outstanding rhymes and meter. The rhythm was like a Dr. Seuss poem.

I looked back at some of the Dr. Seuss books we kept for the grandkids, and sure enough, you're right. It follows the same pattern of meter. Bill Peet's poem stories also use that same meter. I guess that just works well for humorous story poems.

When my boys were little, we read a book called Thingdingwilly by someone named Peet. Is this the same one?
reply by the author on 10-Apr-2023
Yes, it is. The actual name of the book is The Whingdingdilly. We have a number of Bill Peet books, and they are all terrific. I never read that one, though.
reply by damommy on 10-Apr-2023
We loved that book. We still call odd thing Whingdingdillies.

Oh wow! I already read the first part and I loved it so much, and the second part certainly didn't disappoint! The rhymes and wording all work really well, this is such an interesting story, and I love how it turns out! I feel so bad for Neptune, Uranus, and Saturn though! But I'm glad Pluto managed to turn into a better person, amazing job! Now, quick but important thing, your soul.
Now I'd like you to think briefly of the most beautiful painting you've ever seen.
Do you look at that and think the painting created itself? No of course not. The painting means there must be a painter. Now think of every sunrise, sunset, mountain, blade of grass, your friends, family, pets, every cell in your being. You don't really honk that all created itself do you? Of course not, there has to be a God to create that creation.
And no matter how good of a person you think you are, you have sinned against that God. But there is still hope for you, that's why Jesus died on the cross for you, yes you. Repent of your sins and trust in Jesus and he will replace your heart of stone for a heart of flesh. I'm not exactly the height of knowledge on the topic, so I would highly recommend that for more information you go to Living Waters on YouTube, please just watch one video and you won't regret it. Alright have a nice day, God bless.
