This was a very good chapter. Funny, but this appeared on a previous page and I could have sworn I read all the sages there. I'm glad I l looked. Your mom's concern about the Pastor reminded me of a few Pastors' Schools I attended in Indiana. The Pastor said he made sure if a woman went to see him, he'd have someone there and leave the door open. When he died, allegations were made about him having certain indiscretions.

Thank you Jim. I still don't know how that happened. Pastors often get accused of indiscretions. I read somewhere their personality makeup that makes the good pastors makes them subject to falling for women. Maybe Satan just works harder on them than others. I think it must also be true of lawyer, and polititions

Yes, you're right, and somehow some people seem to actually condone it. My wife and I once stayed overnight in a rustic cabin. The proprietress boasted an attorney from our native Connecticut comes there regularly with his secretary.

Wow, Haskel really was a heartbreaker! This is another excellent chapter that captures the different generations in vivid detail to the extent I almost feel I know them. So many lovely little account and emotions incorporated here, expanding on life during those war years.
Some small edits below:

I am fascinated by your memories, Beth. I was born in late May 1952, and it's amazing to read how you perceived it all when the world was at war. What I remember is the aftermath of having been occupied by the Germans. The trauma of that was to be felt well into the sixties. Ulla xcx

I'm sure the war had to be felt more stongly in Europe that in the U.S. since we didn't even get involved until the japanese attacted Pearl Hargor in 2001. I didn't know a lot about what was going except I listened when the adults talked about. I don't think I knew anything about what went on with the Jews until the fifties. Thank you so much for the six stars.

Being so young while the war was going on was a blessing in disguise I imagine because you didn't really know what it was all about and as long as know one in the family was killed, it didn't affect you. But school...I think you'll find a lot of changes when those doors open. Thanks for sharing, Beth. You do such a great job of relating the times.

Thanks for sharing this, I think by the end of1942 the Battle of Britain was nearly over and the German had lost most of their considerably larger war planes to our friskier spitfires, so the bombing, which suffered most nights ceased, I think about then the Americans entered the war, I think you might have been too fat from Japan at that stage, I love your sharing Beth, thank you, Blessings Roy

Thank you Roy, I appreciate the review. I guess since with got in the war in Nov 11, 1941 we were more concerned about the Japanese than the Germans. The West Coast in the most danger.

Thank you Barbara, LIttle girls always wore dresses to school. Little boys sometime wore jeans and nice shirt and church was a even more dressy occasion. Times have certainly changed.
