This is wonderfully written. The way you express finding love and joy is so touching and heartfelt. I love how you share how this has shaped your journey so intimately. I look forward to reading more from you!

A very nice poem.
Notre Dame is in Indiana that has an excellent football team.
This poet did a great job in rhyming for the contest.
Thank you for sharing and good luck!

Such an endearing poem! This feels so right...
As they say, we bloom where we are planted...
You express deep appreciation for life's blessings, and that resonates deeply!

Six stars for mentioning bananas. Yeah baby. A banana a day keeps the hussies away. The only thing this poem is missing is a hot yellow background.
I watched the solar eclipse this year in a field in Indiana, and it was a good time.

SS

Hi, Harry
This looks like a good entry for the contest. Good luck with that!!
That was cute rhyming but Nana with Indiana. I have a daughter named Juliana, who has a daughter named Lyliana. And Juliana's goddaughter is named Savannah
She's outgrown this, but she used to call herself Savannah banana. And then I started thinking Juliana and Lyliana could also kind of rhyme with banana too.
Your poem has a nice rhyming scheme with no set meter. It was whimsical and I could tell you really did miss Indiana
I lived in Indianapolis for almost 9 years from 2006 through 2015. I liked it OK I thought maybe it was a little racist. But it sounds like you were out in the country so that may not have mattered.
There was this gym we went to, that I called the rainbow gym. It was actually called the Westview Healthplex. They had a gym there that was expensive to join, but that welcomed all races all religions, including mixed races. It was like a utopia there in the city.
Have you ever been to Indianapolis? Do you know that it's the 12th largest city in the US by population? I think it includes some of the surrounding areas like Carmel, Fischers and Avon.
But yes, there is plenty of corn growing. Even in Indianapolis proper there sre cornfields everywhere.
My eyes were too bad to see the little corn on the stocks. My husband could see them, but I couldn't. I think maybe if we had stopped instead of kept going on the road we might've been able to see them, but we couldn't stop because there were cars behind us.
At the end here, the first three lines sound like you're still in Indiana, but then that last line looks like you're homesick, wishing to be in Indiana. So I think that might need a little clarifying
" This is the place
where I ate my morning banana
with a smile on my face
and a dream of my precious Indiana"
I enjoyed reading your poem
Good job. Thank you for sharing.

Yes, Pam. I started school in Indianapolis but then later moved to Evansville in the South of the state. The state is actually divided into three's. Southern Indiana is farming and coal mining. The people are poor but very generous. Central Indiana is more technology and computers so you get a lot of stuffy people there that make a lot of money and yes, some times think they are better than most. Then there is Northern Indiana a place where you find the blue collar workers steel mills, auto makers and factories. Hard working people that work hard and play hard. But Southern Indiana is the Best!!!

I like your entry for the Rhyming Poem competition. It's got a very down home, nostalgic feel to it. I've actually just returned from Indiana where we vacationed in a lake cottage. My daughter has family there and this was our second visit. I like it very much so I can relate to your description. Nicely done!

You say you are not a great writer, but with this poem, I beg to differ. I spent many years in Ohio. Indiana and Ohio - part of "flyover country", unless one embraces the real beauty there! I loved everything you wrote about Indiana and could substitute if for Ohio in a heartbeat! Thank you for sharing the love you have for your beautiful state!
