I have sent out a prayer. I am sure that Blondie is deserving of a prayer as any person. She is doing the Lord's work, as a therapist. I'm sure that He appreciates it.

This IS a very sad story. I kept looking at the picture, and Blondie is a beautiful, friendly-looking dog. It's heartbreaking to imagine her so ill that she has difficulty walking, and may not be able to celebrate her birthday. I grew up with dogs, and you develop attachments to them as if they were people. I'm still hoping Blondie can show some signs of improvement.

Yes, dogs are often closer companions than family, because they are so loyal, and they never leave home. Thank you for your very kind words. I appreciate the review a lot. It's good to know people care.

Even Labradors can be contrary, I remember we rescued a female Labrador who was overweight and seemingly far from home, we sent circulars and avenues of lost owners, and next thing we knew the distressed owner turned up, he said Daisy the Labrador was an escape artist, although he'd taken steps, she still found ways, Buddy, our dog, was devastated he had fallen love with her,
Poor Blondie, well done Wendy, blessings Roy

Thank you Roy for sharing your story about Daisy. Some dogs focus on food, others on escaping and looking for adventure.

This was heartbreaking! I love animals, and I always love reading Sunny's adventures as a therapy dog. I hope things look up for Blondie. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

Sorry to hear about Blondie! It's hard on you and on Sunny because he'll notice her absence. It's shocking that rat poison contains warfarin which is the most widely prescribed blood thinners. I learned that trivia from Dr. Lucien Blake, the TV detective set in Australia...

Thanks so much Helen. Yes, I do believe Sunny will miss her. He likes all the other dogs but I think Sunny and Blondie were besties. I appreciate your review.

So sorry to read about this devastating situation. I think all dogs are food focused. Well all creatures are but some like cats are more fastidious.
I pray for a most benevolent outcome. This triggers a memory of a friend's blonde lab, Missy. She was a joy and delight. She waited at the Rainbow Bridge for many years until her owner joined her.

Sending love

Blessings, Julia

Never good when something unfortunate like this happens. Can only hope for the best with Blondie.

Have said so many times, and firmly believe, four-legged barkers make much better people than most of the two-legged species could ever be.

Blonde sounds very much like a golden Labrador I had, Codi. Codi was the best dog ever. Her only downfall was like you mentioned, she loved to eat. LOL She was raised with four boys. We got her as a puppy when my first boys were young. She lived to be 17 years old and died of cancer. Thank you for sharing Blonde with us and I will pray for her family. I know how they must be hurting.

This is tragic news, my friend. Rat Poison is nearly always fatal to pets and the fact that Blondie has held on to life this long is a tribute to her! God's miracles happen and I'm praying! She may well be going over the rainbow bridge too soon... What a loss to everyone who has come into contact with her. Including your readers here on FS!

Such a caring heart you have, for people, as well as animals. I remember reading often about Blondie, and I know how special she has been to patients, as well as to you. We've had blond Labrador neighbors that we love, who loved us and our miniature poodles.
