It's a sure bet you cannot trust those hermit crabs because they will steal whatever you leave behind. I enjoyed your story very much. have a good day and God bless.

I am inspired to write a new Psalm right here, right now:
The one who sleeps too long will be hungry for a longer period than the one who gets up early in search of food.

Poetic!

Nice work! It's clean and concise. It's a snapshot of life, and I could see myself standing there watching the "haunted" shell scurry across the sand.

It was a bit freaky.

I can imagine if you didn't know about hermit crabs with would be a bit scary. I still remember when I was about three and I took turtle away from my dog. The trutle was tightly closed up and I thought it a rock or some other object. I put it on the floor and begged my mom to come see what I'd found. What I'd found had had come out of shell and was walking away. It freaked me out to know I'd touched something that was alive.

We had to chase it down and find out all about it. It lived.

Hi Bill,
Nice little piece you've crafted here. Well written and nicely paced for a small piece of fiction. the turnaround in the last sentence raises a wry smile.
Nice one
