Yes, today is the last of the fun weekend to end summer, and then it's back to work, and anticipation of fall. We just can't get too comfortable with anything, because when we do, it changes. :-) Thanks for sharing.

Hi Ric, I sure appreciate your very kind comments for my Labor Day Weekend poem. We have not done this since the kids were small, yet we just had a family vacation a few weeks ago that was very much like this.
Thanks again, my dear friend for this awesome review. Love, Debi

-Nice artwork and presentation, Debi.
-A well written poem with effective imagery and rhyme.
-You do a good job describing Labor Day.
-It is a time for many to get away, but others,
like teachers, know it is back to the classroom for them!
-A former neighbor was a superintendent of a school
and had a daughter in school. They came back at the last minute.
I couldn't do that, too hectic!!
-But this sounds like a very nice, relaxing day with
a picnic and barbecue, and fun activities for all.
-Then it is back to work, perhaps feeling refreshed.
-Very well done. Happy Labor Day!!!

You perfectly described my holiday weekend prior to my retirement. As a child, Dad took us to Willow Grove Amusement Park and picnic grounds. As an adult, my husband and I packed an overnight bag and hit the road in all the holiday traffic on Friday to go to Atlantic City, New Jersey. We stayed in a hotel and spent the weekend on the beach and boardwalk.
Your poem captured all the excitement of the final fun weekend of the summer with picnics and barbeques across the country. Hope you have a great holiday.

Hi Debi!
What a fun poem. It shows the Labor Day holiday as a sort of mixed blessing. It's a time for family fun, but a harbinger of the return to school. Our kids went back three weeks ago, and I have no idea why!! I hope everyone has fun tomorrow and a good start to school Tuesday!
Much love,
Rhonda

Is Labor Day celebrating the working unions? Ours are in big trouble; the Govt. has disbanded the most important lead union and thousands of protesters gathered in Brisbane. We have to have unions to protect the workers. I loved the illustration you used to compliment your happy holiday poem. It's Monday here, so I guess your Labor Day holiday is over and you didn't get stuck in the tube! Love, Kay. XX

Awe, thank you so very much for this delightful honor of six stars and beautiful review and sweetest comments. You are so sweet.
Believe it or not I keep falling asleep, since I had covid a few weeks ago. I just woke up and I can't believe I am like that again. I don't know if you knew about this but after getting covid eye, I had a couple infections and then abrasions and now have gone blind in one eye. I am seeing an eye specialist every day. So the reason I am telling you is to ask my special friends to please pray for me. I would appreciate it so much. This may be temporary if we can get the infections cleared, the swelling down and the abrasions healed, but the thing is to also keep it out of the other eye, which is good right now. Thanks so much, Kace. You are a special friend.
And thank you again for the wonderful review and kind words and special six stars. I appreciate you so much. Love, Debi

That is terrible. I didn't know it could affect your eyesight. I pray all will be well with treatment. Love, Kace XX

Happy Labour Day Debi!
Your poem was light and fun and joyful.
I must say this labour day sounds like a great celebration, we don't have such a day celebrated in Ireland.
I love the rhyme and imagery and positive energy.
Well done!

Hi Nicki, I suppose that does sound a little different to you, but it is not what everyone does. It is what we always did with our kids to show them one last fun weekend, but not everyone does.
I truly appreciate your lovely comments for the Labor Day poem. I thought it was time since I never saw one on here before.
Do you mind me asking when your birthday is and if you would be interested in a birthday poem? If not just let me know, but you have been such a lovely friend and reviewer and since I can't review much, I love to do this as a thank you. So just let me know, ok?
Thanks again, dear friend. Love, Debi

Hi Debi, oh that is just so sweet of you I would be absolutely honoured to have a birthday poem from you as u truly love to read them, they are so lovely, it's just a little passed since 24th July!
We have our own holiday celebrations I suppose with St. Patrick's day in March.
We tried to make the best of bad weather this summer here, didn't get to go to the beach too much , We had quite a bit of rain this year! And they are back to school now so back to routine, but look once we have our health and a roof over our heads ans food on the table and each other thats all that matters isn't it. Thanks so much Deb.x

If I can fit it in would you like a belated one, since it really hasn't been that long?
I'm a little partial to the date of your birthday as my oldest granddaughter turned 21 that day.
I should also tell you another reason you have captured my heart, where my kids went to school, and now two grandkids, our hometown, is the home of the Irish. We are from Maple Lake, MN, and are the Irish. In fact our band has bagpipes and play a lot of Irish music. And on March 17th, we have a huge parade and the bars in town all serve green beer. So at least in our town, we feel like we are a part of you.
-
Ah brilliant I share the same birthday with your grand daughter is that cool!
I'd be absolutely thrilled, noone had ever written a poem about me so I would treasure it!
Hey I love that you hace bagpipes, green beer the works for Paddy's day, hey I don't even get green beer lol. I'd say you celebrate bettee than ourselves lol!
Bringing a part our small green isle to the big US!
Isn't it a small world after all Deb x

Hi Nicki, if you could send me a little bit of info about yourself, I checked my schedule and I can do a poem for you in a few days. I have one tomorrow but after that it is about six days till my next one. It doesn't have to be much, just a little about yourself, what you wouldn't mind sharing with your friends here. It also helps to get more people to reach out to you and fan you and helps get more reviews. Please get back to me as soon as you can and we will just tell that it is a belated. We don't have to tell how late. LOL
-
Mums the word lol! Oh I'm excited about this now.
I'm from a small seaside town on southern shore of Ireland. I love beach walks with our french bulldog Goochie ( i always joke hes my only son lol).
And my gorgeous partner Maciek, he's Polish we're together almost 20 years we met here in my home town.
I love sea dipping its refreshing and great for your wellbeing. I worked in an office but since covid working from home still everyday.
We have 3 wonderful daughters. My first daughter Sasha (25now) is the eldest from a previous relationship, I had her very young at 19 years old, she wasn't planned and really having her saved me from myself she was a blessing.
I'm so proud of them all and love them to pieces, Emily and Hanna are 2 teenagers to keep us on our toes. Since they got bigger I've more time back for myself I got back in to doing local theatre couple years ago singing and acting and loving it and I'm a member with fan story with about 5 or 6 months. And I'm part of a signing group called c-siders!
I love learning about poetry from all the fabulous writers on here. And some wonderful people have helped giving me tips and pointers and lots of encouragement! One of my favourites to write are limericks they're so much fun! I hope you have enough info in there, I have a simple life no exciting achievements to brag about lol!
Please tell me if you need anything else. I just cannot wait eeks!! Thanks so much Deb xx
-
Ok, I will start tomorrow and contact you w any more ?s
I will let you know the date too. Maybe Frii or Sat
Also a few of your fav songs
-
A silly question for you.
Is Goochie brown?
I may have more so please check a few times aand give me the title of a few songs . as I would like to post tomorrow
-
One more question. They may seem like stupid ones but in places where I need to improvise, then I have to add something that I come up with and try to pick a logical one. So here goes, do your girls like to dance?
I will tell you that it is going to be tonight or tomorrow as I have another one for Saturday. If I don't get the answers about if your dog is brown or do your daughters dance then I will just assume the answers are yes. LOL

This is a delightful poem with a fun picture. Labor Day Weekend should go just the way you describe it, although aren't you a little far north to expect swimming weather on the first of September?

LOL, Carol, we're still getting high 70s and 80s in the forecast this week. My kids are mudding way up in northern MN and say the weather is delightful. But I must say I am ready for some cooler temps. I love having windows open and today is the first day we shut the air off & opened them.
How is it in Illinois right now? Lovely state. We love it there.
Thanks for the very kind comments for my poem and for being such a sweet friend. Lotsa love and hugs! Debi

Our days have warmed up into the low eighties, but 2 weeks ago most of the days were in the upper seventies. Couple of nights have been in the fifties this weekend.
