This poem is sadly true. Those who betray first love and then they stab you in the back. It can seem at first like an act of love before you see it as it really is meant to be.

Hi Zanya. I like the irony in your poem. Your phrasing clearly expresses the act of betrayal in the poem. That is such a mean and nasty thing. It can be difficult to overcome. Well written and good luck.

This is a true statement, and well said. Gift-wrapped should be hyphenated since the two words function together as an adjective. And one small tip for presentation: kill the white background on your image, as it stands out with a sore thumb. You can do this very easily at the website remove.bg.

This 5-7-5, Gift Wrapped, has the proper formatting and sometimes is not as obvious beforehand as it will be afterward. Smiling faces are often associated with backstabbing.

Great philosophy. Your poem serves as a warning to people that conventions (sometimes appearances, clothing, deceit) can all be dressed up into a pretty package.
I think your excellent poem should fare well in the contest.

Italian people in the Mafia sometimes use the "kiss" of death to signal the person kissed will soon die. Only the most astute can tell the difference from a regular kiss.
