I enjoyed reading your poem very much. It has a great presentation. The meter and rhyme are perfect and have an easy flow. I like the author notes and the Shakespeare quote~so true. Well done!

This is written beautifully although it's around an emotion we rather have less of or at least have better management of when it lifts is dready head. Thanks for sharing this poem it's also a reminder if we keep our trust in God he will guide us along the way. Well done
Best Wishes

Hello Nicki.
Thank you very much for your positive comments about the content of the poem. Fear is an emotion that can overwhelm all of us. You are right about placing your trust in God in order to get us through difficult times.

God helps those who help themselves. We need to offer kindness courtesy and respect for each other. I see where you are aiming but I'm afraid I have to disagree. Those few people who make it bad for all of the others ruin it for all of us who care for each other.
Thanks for sharing and for letting us know how you feel.

Such a simple, straightforward title (they're the best titles, I think!!) leading to an interesting exploration and reflection on fear and how it can impact us in our lives, even hold us back- such a great pic! Wish I had 6 remaining!

Hello Zanya.
Thank you very much for taking time to review my sonnet. I agree with you about. Simple, straightforward titles. It leaves more to the reader's imagination. Thank you for your positive words and comments. I appreciate your words about the picture. I try to create all of the graphics I use with my poetry.

Hi Robert
This is a well done Shakespearean sonnet about how some let fear rule their lives. It is sad that they don't look to faith to help them.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Have a. excellent weekend.Joan

Thank you, Joan.
I am grateful for your positive and complimentary words about the poems structure. I also appreciate your comments about faith. It is the one thing we have, as believers, that can often save us from our grief.

You're welcome on both counts, Robert.
It surely is.

This is a hauntingly beautiful poem about someone who fears thunderstorms: "Like flames from the mouths of dragons, fear burns deep." I wish I'd thought of it. My one suggestion is that I don't think the picture suits the mood of the poem.

Thank you very much for your positive review and meaningful comments. I create many of my own graphics and this one did not turn out exactly as I wanted.

My Grandma was always terrified of storms and I would hold her hand and gently soothe her. If I am indoors and safe I enjoy seeing the weather rage outside. Your poem is full of panic and fear and sometimes people feel these emotions deeply, a fine post Robert, love Dolly x x x

Comment from CD Richards
I love storms. Not exactly sure why, but as long as I'm safe and sound inside, and not out in them, I think they are amazing.
I like Mark Twain's take on the subject:
"I do not fear death. I had been dead for billions and billions of years before I was born, and had not suffered the slightest inconvenience from it."
I see you quoted Shakespeare, there is also a quote of his I love on the subject, from The Tempest:
"We are such stuff as dreams are made on, and our little lives are rounded with a sleep."
As for your sonnet, the rhyme is perfect and the meter excellent. The subject matter is interesting, and the atmosphere you create is appropriate for it. Nicely done with the picture too.
Terrific job.

I'm so tickled to see you back and smile at each post, Robert! I've been behind in reviews but did note your return and plan a night of catching up soon.
This is a wise sonnet laced with the truth...
Your trademark perfect meter and rhyme is perfection!
As a retired RN I admit I do not feat death, for my faith sustains me...
It's the process of dying that can be an agonizing journey!

Hello K.
Thank you for your kind, and profound words. I agree with your thoughts about the process of dying, and the fear. That accompanies it. We share that same belief. I have only published 4 or 5 poems Since I have been back. I will publish once a week. Or maybe twice, in some weeks. As for my propensity for rhyme and meter, I was told by my publisher that nobody wants to buy that poetry anymore. I did publish a book last year. It is a chapbook about what happened during the pandemic.

Where can I purchase your chapbook? I want it! I've long been a fan of your Rhyme and meter...
Good poetry is always in demand!
P'shaw to those publishers!

Fear can definitely alter the course of our life. If we let it overpower us, it starts to own us, set our boundaries, keep us from finding our strength that can let us conquer those fears. This was a very cool poem. Gretchen
