A straightforward question is the title of this timely poem- a weighty question and to find the answer in our confused times is difficult indeed. What a powerful statement in the final stanza 'Once love thy neighbour covered all,'

Hi Roy!
There is so much truth in your well penned poem. It is a message that the world truly needs to hear today. Keep spreading the word of God and shining a light into our lives. I commend you, both on the message and execution of your well written words.
Thank you for sharing.

I have actually heard people say that the Bible is outdated, that it doesn't apply to today's world. I was shocked when I first heard that. God's word was true yesterday, is true today, and will be true tomorrow. Thank you for sharing this God inspired poem with us.

This poem has captured the truth and made it read out. We are not a wholesome lot. We do not act accordingly. It's very sad some of the accepted behaviors. Not that the world was perfect when I was growing up, but it was a lot less ugly. Gretchen

The love of the many is cooled off, says the Bible. I look around today, seems to be all about self, and self image. Your wirds capture the situation of this world very well. I think it deserves a six, but I have none at this point.

You nailed this one, Roy! I look around and see so much has changed in our lives and in the world; love and respect seem to have lost their value. The Lord gave us the ability to love one another, not to use them or better ourselves, but to find enjoyment together.
Smiles and hugs, Carol

Love rules all. I really like your poem and thanks for sharing. This world often forgets about the power of love. Thanks for the notes and reminder. Take care Roy.

I think a lot of people confuse obedience with morality. They are not the same thing. Also, experience shows us many who speak the most about morality get caught demonstrating they have little or none.
I do agree that "love thy neighbour" is a pretty good approach towards a moral existence, particularly if we consider every breathing thing our neighbour.
In the end, we are all captains of our own ship, and we bear the enjoyment and responsibility of that.
The rhyme and meter are, of course, excellent, and I enjoyed reading this; even agreed with some of it.

Much truth in what you say. God knew what He was doing in setting boundaries. Rejecting them will bring cosequences to man.

The mists of doubt sends ... (should be the mists of doubt send ...) if you want to be grammatically correct.

Well said, Roy. I believe on that final fateful day, the only question asked, regardless of what you believe or how you worship, will be, "How did you treat your fellow man?" In that answer lies everything we need to be saved. We all need to step back and ask ourselves that question. If we're honest, we won't like the answer. Thanks for sharing your work. Have a wonderful day. Frank
