Debbie,
Squirrels....Oh crap and I was having a really lovely summer with no squirrels. When I get home my back yard will be a disaster from them munching acorns from my oaks.
Messy rodents. Nicely penned and gave me a laugh then a grown ... Nicely penned within the guidelines of a senryu.
Thanks for sharing it.

Thanks, Maureen. They like to nest in my roof--naughty creatures. Take care, my friend~Debbie

So very true...they're kind of like children...I wonder what goes on in their minds....I'm sure it would be quite interesting if I could know. Love the little furry creatures. Good job. God loves you and I do too.

So true girl. They are the busiest little buggers and never without food. Gotta admire their willingness to store away.

Don't you wonder what they think of us as we stare at them? Thanks, Debbie

Nah, I know. They think we are crazy for not doing the same thing. LOL

Hi Debbie,
there must be a few squirrels around at the moment over your way, I has a few writers complaining about their blatant disrespect for the sanity of the landlord... They look kinda cute to me, but I'm a bit of a tree hugging animal lover... Loved all your S words in this senryu... Nice imagery and well constructed.
Kindest thoughts,
James xx

This is a cute poem and a cute picture to go with it. It is true that they don't stop for much except to stare at you if you get to close. Great job!

That's a good observation of squirrels you've created. I see them every day as they dart up and down trees, looking for nuts and whatever else they eat. They also can run across overhead wires at a very fast pace, and jump from branch to branch.
Cheers,
DW

Yes, they are fun to watch. I wonder if they enjoy watching us, too. Thanks, Donald~Debbie

They do, don't they. I started my hunting career by chasing squirrels. They are not only fun to watch but good to eat. (LOL)
Warm regards,

I can't say I have ever eaten a squirrel, I think I prefer watching them. Thank you so much for your review~Debbie

You should try them. They are one of the best wild game meats. (LOL) My dad's favorite dish was squirrel in milk gravy over mash potatoes. We have become too urbanized in this country and people are losing touch with nature. Remember we get milk from the grocery store and our beef from there too. (LOL)
Warm regards,
Winslow

HI! You seem to have hit the nail on the head with this one, as your description of the squirrel's behaviour is exactly what they do. They scurry away from us but can't help stopping for a second to take a backward look! Well observed! wiljacro.

You pegged the squirrel's character exactly! The way you structured the poem looked like it would be haiku. I was disappointed it wasn't.

This isn't a haiku because it uses personification. It also has no cutter as a haiku would. I would appreciate you looking at it again keeping these in mind. Haiku and senryu are structured much the same but do have these unique and subtle differences~Debbie

Lots of "s' sounds, and good alliterations. Forms a cute picture in my imagination. They can be bold little creatures, in spite of the nervous energy. I enjoyed the scene. Well done, Debbie.
