Onward and forward go
Let writing never slow
Share stories one and all
If that is your life's call
You've got it, Debbie. Share those stories!
Thanks for the dedication! I'm so glad you have my book and that you and your writer's group are using it to full advantage. I officially presented it to my poetry club yesterday, along with a workshop, and they loved it - the workshop and the book. In fact, I barely had enough copies with me! Thanks also for the wonderful review you posted on my webpage.
Hugs,
Lois

This reminds me of the phrase. "Speak softly, but carry a big stack" this was a very positive thought transmission that flows well in its poetic verve. I enjoyed reading it... John

That was to be stick, not stack. I am a terrible when it comes to typing...

I am too. When I was in school, only girls planning to be secretaries or teachers took typing and I planned on neither. Then this thing called keyboarding came along and I am at a loss ~Debbie

Please speak gently your words
Only then they will be heard
What wise words these are! I wonder why more of our youth don't learn this... I did with age, tho. Maybe that's the secret. But young folks today are so loud and brash and rude... times are changing and it doesn't look good for the future. Back when politeness was considered absolutely necessary, there were just as many disagreements, but it seems to me in my own memory that they were handled more civilly. Now everyone yells and screams and calls each other names even in Congress. Sigh...
For you'll honestly be
What you expect to see
Another very insightful truth! Edward de Bono is the source for one of my favorite quotes: The mind can only see what it is prepared to see. Explains why no one listens to the "other viewpoint"... both personally and politically. No one listens to anyone anymore... it's all about who can shout the loudest and drown out the opposition. Truth has gone out the window with facts... lies move in and rule the discourse. If they are shouted loud enough, they actually are believed and become the new truth. This cannot end well.

Gently spoken words are more to be listened to than shouted ones. This is the message the writer wants to put forward.
When a gentle person speaks, the words he puts forward gets the attention of the listener because the gentleness captivates.
So the writer has a pleading to "Please speak gently your words" because speaking with gentleness and kindness also begets kindness.
In the 3rd line of the 3rd stanza, I think the phrase "on and all" should be ONE and ALL.

There's a proverb that says " be swift to listen and slow to speak" I think we should treat all people with respect and gentle speech, which is the way we should address one another! Beautifully written Debbie, so much wisdom contained in this poetic tribute to respect! Nice aabb rhyming, even meter! Blessings, Roy.

Debbie - this is a lovely poem and shares that deeper knowing of caring for all.
I thought you crafted this one well. I'm still not finished her book, I've had too many things popping up on me. Great overall job writing this work.
Thanks for sharing.

Glad to hear Mrs. Funk has a book out. She is a real poet in my opinion. Your poem is justice to her. Proverb teaches we should speak softly to get results. Thanks for sharing.
