Wife sees light anyway, slices geisha longways with Samurai sword. The
twenty-first century dawns in Nipponese country. I suppose this is a
proper Haiku, with a neat twist.

Any time, Debbie. Anything I know I am happy to pass it on. Just send me a PM and I'll give you my phone number, so we can do it together, step by step. That is how Dean does it and it's the best way I have ever being taught. I also keep notes that you are welcome to have.
Thank you for the review. :)

Another cleverly crafted haiku poem. The Japanese themes you have got going are superb. Those geisha girls can sure warm up a cold night.
Thank you for sharing.
Bless you

Your haiku is very telling in the scenario it portrays of a wife left alone by her husband who chooses to visit a geisha instead. The fact that it's so matter-of-fact highlights the coldness not just of the evening but the lack of any passion or regret, how this is yet another example of a bad marriage devoid of physical/emotional satisfaction, resulting in the next predictable step for the husband to seek it elsewhere while the lonely wife wouldn't be able have that option.

Hello, my friend. This is a haiku. They are all brief poems. They are 17 syllables or less. I love haiku, they are harder to write than most people think. You are right about some relationships are like that. Thank you for the review :)
-
Hello to you as well. I had always been under the impression that a haiku was always 5-7-5, not 3-5-3. I assumed at first that it was a type of variant in Japanese haiku format that I wasn't familiar with and didn't know whatever the exact term was so that's why I phrased my review the way I did. But yes, haiku can be tricky. Personally though, the limited structure makes me feel more comfortable and sure of what to write. But again, your haiku was good. I'll be sure to correct my mistake/misunderstanding in the review.
-
I get it. It's totally okay to do anything that makes you feel comfortable and 5/7/5 it's an opinion but not the only one. I'm at studying classic haiku from people like basho, the master haikuist in history.

A long standing stigma has been placed on Japanese Geisha girls. When someone thinks of a Geisha, they think of a glorified prostitute or call girl. This is far from the truth. Geisha's are entertainers. They are trained vigorously in art, music and dancing. If you translate Geisha into English, you get artist.
Being a true Geisha is an honor to the girls, who when they become full-fledged Geisha's are then called geiko. If a girl begins her training to be a geisha before she is 21, she is called a maiko, meaning child dancer. A girl or woman can become a geisha even if she wasn't a maiko, but if she had been a maiko she would enjoy much more prestige.
Still, just spending an evening in the company of geisha girls for a man, especially a cold, dark evening as you've alluded to in your stunningly presented haiku, is to be made to feel like a king. They are very skilled in the art of pleasing men through their art, their dancing, and entertaining.
Bravo, Gypsy. This is a beautifully written and wonderfully presented haiku.

Hello, Darlin' You are preaching to the choir, as they say. Here is a link to a free verse poem I wrote last year. It's called ''Geisha'' and my author notes are almost exactly as your review comments.>>>>: http://www.fanstory.com/displaystory.jsp?hd=1&id=763932&userid=743686&tf=0 --- the complete Name of the poem= is Geisha and it's in a book----, A chapter in the book 2015 Gypsy Gems. I read the poem at a recital and people liked it. I repeated a line...... "Are you free?" It was cool.
You are right. They are entertainers, artists, well educated (in all kinds of skills, including sex) but a lot of them are glorified, prostitutes. The only difference is that most Geishas get to choose who they want to sleep with. Considering the alternative.... females in Japan are, or used to be, subjugated, becoming a Geisha is an honor for many families. I am sad the women are indoctrinated since they are very young. Instead of playing games with their friends, they are in a classroom learning how to please men. That sucks and it's very unfair to women.
My haiku was not a political statement or meant as disrespect to Geishas, I am sorry if it came across that way. I totally get it. They are artists and I admire them for that.
The haiku stamp it's bigger than my mini-muse little man. LOL I love him! We have to introduce your mini-muse to mine. She is very cute too. ;)
Thank you for the kind words, sweetie pie. I am very grateful for you and your review.
-
I didn't feel your poem came across wrong at all, dear Gypsy. So, no apologies necessary.
And, as always, you are more than welcome. It is an excellent haiku.
~Dean ;)
-
Sorry if I came across too strong. LoL. I'm a passionate person and sometimes I go overboard. LoL
-
Oh no, not at all.
I'm much the same way. ;)
-
Good, I like to discuss my opinions with intelligent open-minded adults. *hugs*
-
Oops! Then you need to be sharing your opinions with someone else other than me, heh-heh... Just kidding, of course.
It's always a pleasure, dearest gypsy.

Hi sweetie. ;)
I was thinking just the part with your name... it seems larger than the poetry. ;) lol But maybe it's just on my computer? Just a thought...
Hugs and love honey!
-
I love you too, LS. You are right, I will make it smaller. It's a good suggestion. Goodnight! *SG hugs*

Very clever haiku poem, extending the Japanese theme, with a geisha adding warmth to a cold evening by her entertaining.
