What a very poignant verse this is and you are absolutely correct in stating that is is a sad travesty for our young people. Well written and a great entry for the 3-5-3 prompt.

Isn't that a kick in the pants? I'm sure there may be some benefits to the video games, I just don't know what they are. I just remember sixty some years ago, you couldn't get a kid in a house when all their friends were outside. The future will be interesting. Good luck.

Do you suppose our grandparents went through this with the radio? I know I went through it with the television. Is it just our perspective? And yet, being outside has got to be better than being down in the basement.

I truly think that computers and video games are different. It's so pervasive and addictive. Tv and radio just weren't entertaining enough to keep our attention from dusk to dawn. Kids can tailor their games to do exactly what they want. We were stuck with what was on the air. I can't explain the attraction, but its different. I see it in the classroom. We have recess outside and they want to bring out their iPads or they want to have recess in the computer lab. And, it is so exciting for them.

Perhaps, with me, it's just a generation gap. I'm pretty old. You are right though, the gaming, the ipads? people of all ages seem seduced and the devices take on a huge priority. I don't know if I'll live to see the next generation but I'm curious to see how they will evolve. Take care.

Ohhhhh....the poor swings! ;) They creak along with the monkey bars that are covered with bird droppings....very sad...:) Good offering for this contest -- best of luck at the polls! ;) ;)

That's a great idea, Anne. The photo of that swing is artful. It speaks volumes by itself. It needs to be displayed in pediatric offices.

To think that our children are not out in the sun and fresh air is a shame. Sadly the youngsters are becoming soft because they are not getting enough exercise. Patricia
