I can remember our kids singing in the car. And likewise they don't remember either, my elder actually grew up, singing to biggish audiences. Beautifully written I was quite involved, Well done, blessings, Roy

'It had lots of tundra for the kids to run around on discovering bird nests and other small creatures and insects native to the area. ' I live in a lush, mountain valley.... this is so hard for me to even imagine!
'we had to give it a proper burial. It took several plastic spoons to dig the hole in the hard ground as they kept breaking. ' What an awesome memory!!!
Best of luck in the Story of Lyrics contest.

Not many trees in Alaska as the growing season is so short they become stunted bushes. Thanks for your kind review. The kids are grown but I have so many pleasant memories.

The author's words are engaging, heartfelt, descriptive and creative.
The author's words were just beautiful. I have a four year old grandson
and thought about the words of this poem. The poem flows and connects well. The artwork is precious! Have a great weekend!

Thanks for your review. She is still very tenderhearted and never lets a stray go hungry.

There is much sadness in these words, although something memorable and positive was remembered here, songs can resonate with us and we relive those old memories. Much enjoyed, a tearful post, love Dolly x

You have shared the story of Mockingbird Hill, and the songs you sang in the car with your kids while driving, so simply, minutely, I like and have enjoyed the read. ALCREATOR

What a sweet story and great memory you have shared, Mystery Writer. I enjoyed reading your contest entry. You told it well with great imagery. I could see you and your daughter laughing and singing on those road trips. The inclusion of the funeral for the little bird was great but poignant. I don't know the song Mockingbird Hill, but I have heard Mares Eat Oats.
Thanks for sharing and best wishes.
Respectfully, Jan

This is such a sweet write and speaks well of your sweet daughter. Children seem to have a tenderness toward all living things that is too soon left behind if not cultivated. Nice write.

Is this a poem or a story? The contest calls for a poem but this reads exactly like a story. Good luck in the contest. Stay safe and stay healthy.

In answer this is a story. The contest rules suggested either poem or story. Thought I would try a different approach. Thanks for reviewing and the kind words.

I found the story very interesting piece and admired your sweet loving daughter's show of care. And I do hope that she has grown up with this same level of care and love for the society around her. Thanks so much for sharing your story.

What a beautiful story, I remember long car trips and what parents came up with to keep kids entertained, I like the bit about the plastic spoons-that brings back memories, great photo and best wishes for your contest****kahpot
