Homeless people and thier plight has been something that has bothered me for a long time. I've volunteered at soup kitchens and given money to them when possible. Something more permanent should be in place to help them. While I really like your poem and accompanied image, best of luck in the contest.

I did write about what is gross about this issue: what is gross is we have lost the war on drugs, and the states and national politicians do nothing to help these people find a pathway off the addictions. YEt states are hot to approve what is gross is we have lost the war on drugs, and the states and national politicians do nothing to help these people find a pathway off the addictions, yet they legalized marijuana for more tax dollars.

Good presentation. That man certainly is lost. Help must come within first, but the sitting in your picture shows he has given in. Just like your words. Thank you for sharing.

This is a fine thought for the Lowku Poem entry. Sometime short thoughts can really hit the spot, touch our heart, and even be encouraging. Well done!

These are sad words and it is a pity that we have so many lost souls who could not find their way in life, those in need pray for a better life and stay in my prayers, love Dolly x

Dolly thank you for your review and comments.

Thank you for bringing the "war on drugs" to our attention. With the pandemic, the political upheaval, the riots on the streets and the unemployment, the war on drugs has probably gotten worse but not fought. Best wishes in the contest!

Yes, sadly, I think we will see a terrible spike.

This is a unique and elegant entry for the Lowku contest. There's so much we think is nasty or disgusting and it's easy to point a finger (away from ourselves). Some disgusting things even become emojis.
But drug addiction and homelessness make us feel UNEASY because 1) we
don't help, 2) we are judgmental and don't want to admit it, and 3) because we could someday be in the same situation ourselves. Most of us will never know about the "battles waged" or the efforts to seek help. Good luck in the contest!

Melissa, the ugliness for me is that we declare a war on drugs and America is terrible at winning wars, ergo, the drug epidemic continues to spiral out of control and now we have dumb state legislators capitalizing on a new tax basis with legalizing marijuana, how stupid is that?

We?ve lost a clear vision based on principles.

This is a very well written 5-7-5, three line, Lowku poem you have penned for the contest. Very nice picture you used to go with your words. Best wishes in the contest. Blessings, Teri

What a sad theme for your contest entry, Mystery Writer. Good job, though, on its style. Your syllable count is correct per line, the image plus your words pair perfectly, and your message is clear. Best wishes.
Respectfully, Jan

See me, I am lost
Hello, anonymous,
I think you wrote a good poem but I don't think it's what the contest ask for. Drug abuse is horrible and sad but not something gross, nasty, or disgusting. Maybe if you mention a heroin drug addict injecting with a nasty dirty needle. Or an addict passed out in his own fences.

Your words have an impact on the reader. Every day we see people who are lost, yet we often walk right by. The picture is perfect to go with your poem.
