this is a pwoerful poem about the sacrifice that our military people make for us only to see our actions repeated over and over. the modern warfare also incorporates too many noncombatants as well. thank you for the heartfelt poem.

Hi deepwater. This is a very thought-provoking piece of writing although it does not feel like a poem to me. You have certainly expressed your thoughts very well.

deepwater:
excellent tribute to all soldiers (veterans)
not just those who gave all on the battlefield.
I believe every warrior leaves something on
that battlefield and comes home forever changed ~
at least every one I've been privileged to know
has returned with a bit left on foreign soil.
Those left behind are not the only ones missing
in action all too often. I do not take lightly
my freedom because the cost has been too high.
Unfortunately, however, as a nation, and as a
world, we seem doomed to repeat the past. love, jan

We owe so much to those who have given their lives and even body parts for us to have freedom. We should never forget them and always pay them with our remembrance and respect. Very impressive write and filled with truth and wisdom.

A poem that makes one ponder from the thoughts of the deceased. Sometimes, wars are justified. many times not. Learning by history seems to be very hard for most in control. Like I said, it makes me ponder. Good job. Love, Jean

This is not poetic format. I is a good dissertation but it is not even prose poetry, nor is it free-verse poetry. We are trying to be professional here.
Thank You My Friend,

Thank you for this piece, it reminds me of how many of our men and children have died in a war they were tricked into believing was for the good of mankind and our countries freedom, but look at it now, look at how Arizona is trying to pass a law, basically a license to profile mexicans. That is not freedom and it's not what our soldiers have died for. Sorry to ramble, thats just my opinion

Deepwater I like what you have written. Yet I believe it depends on which war you were referring to. When we have a voluntary force, they are doing what the get paid for. I was on a submarine and voluteered for it. We had a couple of close calls and do not think I have any honorific words paid for what I volunteered to do.

How true and reflective all these wonderfully written words seem to be.
This thoughtful and very poignant piece should serve as a reminder not to let history repeat as too many deaths already have been in vain. Satisfying the hunger for greed within high powers and the ignorance of those who will suffer for their country.
Good job on this thought provoking piece.
