Oh my yes!!!
Hands are everything!!
I still write all my poetry
long-hand! I know very few people
who don't work with their hands.
A fitting tribute Mr. Jesse!
Blessings...

Thank you so much for this encouraging and thoughtful review. I am glad we are on the same page with this, although I am not surprised. I knew you wrote your poetry long-hand and I think that is great! I wish I would go back to doing it that way but, habits die hard and I am used to my computer, now more than ever. As some readers have pointed out, we do a lot with our hands, and what would we do without those who build houses and cars and bridges and all that we need? Anyway, thanks for the awesome review and excellent rating.
Have a great rest of your weekend!
Jesse

It is a wonderful way to see the world.
I think 'hands' these days, are becoming obsolete, which makes them even more precious. Have a beautiful Sunday!!

You too, my friend!

Jesus was trained as a carpenter. Many of his disciples were fishermen. Examples for us to value the dignity of physical labour.
I enjoyed your poem, Jesse. Thank you for sharing your insightful poetry.
Stay safe healthy and blessed

I liked the sense of rhythm in this piece, particularly in the second stanza, where the motion of the hands hammering away or sawing away at the wood seemed caught up in the rhythm of the words describing it. Very much after the model of Seamus Heaney, who was the master of this convention. I liked that image of building mountains up out of dust. It gives a sense of accomplishing something out of what seems impossible. estory

I am so glad you picked up on the rhythm of the poem in that particular section. I like it when someone compares me to a famous poet like, Seamus Heaney, it makes me feel special. I appreciate your kind words, and for telling me a line you liked the most. Thank you for this marvelous review, and excellent rating.
Have a great weekend,

So very true! And where would we be without the work of people who work with their hands? I'm thankful for all those who labor with their hands. A very important message in your poem. We need to find ways to honor all people for what they do and your poem does just that.

Thank you for your thoughtful review. I would address you by name, but I confess I do not remember it. Yes, I too, am thankful for all those who lovingly labor with their hands to build and such. They make our lives much easier, because of their skilled hands making everything from houses, to cars, to machines, to artistic sculpting...the list goes on and on.
Those who work with their hands are honorable people, and should be treated as such! Thank you again for your wonderful review and excellent rating!
Have a lovely weekend,

-Good image and
presentation, Jesse.
-I agree, there is no shame
in doing physical labor!
-You wrote a very good
poem showing the changes
that took place regarding
your viewpoint.
-I like how you separate the
opening with the single line.
-An excellent tribute to those
who work their hands:
"transforms mountains to dust."
-A very good concluding verse,
especially the last line.
-Very well done; thanks for sharing it.

Thank you, Pam, for this wonderfully detailed and comprehensive review. You told me all of the parts you liked, and I appreciate that very much. You are very welcome for the review, and I appreciate the thought about the contest. This is more than enough, and you have a great upcoming weekend, too.

I suppose it is the thought that counts. I have eleven of them and I am hoping to win an honorable mention for reviewing. That would be awesome!
Enjoy your weekend,
Jesse

It is the thought, Jesse, and how wonderful you have that many nominations. I hope you get the H.M., too. You deserve it.

Our hands are our treasure. What would we be able to accomplish without them? Knowing their value is paramount in our life, as is knowing the value of what we have at any given moment.

So true! We wouldn't make very much without our hands, now would we? We must value all labor, whether it be by hand or by the mind. Thank you, Ralf, for the thoughtful review and the kind comments.
Have a great weekend,
Jesse

Hello Jesse, this is a good, thoughtful poem. We would certainly find life difficult them. I particularly like your author notes. Physical labour is not always appreciated - but it takes a lot of skill to build a house. There is a tendency to consider white collar workers superior - how stupid. Just look at some of the magnificent cathedrals around the world. Regards Dorothy x

Yes, the cathedrals...and the chapels too.
Thank you. Dorothy, for having a healthy attitude about physical labor, and the wonderful difference, it makes in our world. My late wife was a construction worker and she was able to do anything she wanted to do! I was so proud of her!
She passed away in 2007, and I miss her every day still. Thanks for sharing and for letting me share as well.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Jesse

Jesse,
Well, I guess better later for your appreciation of the (hand) than never.
You mention the influence of your family in that regard. This is a free
verse of free form poem with some rhyme?
Can you explain this:
"transforms mountains to dust" How? Who? the hand?
I like your intro and ending, but I really would like to
see the heart of your message expanded as to make
it more clear what you are trying to express. You can count
on me to be honest, right? Just like I can count on you for the same. lol
I bet you can pull more out than this...With due respect because I know you have it in you.
Thanks for sharing,
AnnaLinda

Hello AnnaLinda.
I am not supposed to defend my work so, I won't. Just try to imagine a mountain being shoveled by large machines until there is nothing left but dust! I appreciate your honesty so I gave you an honest answer. Thank you for the excellent rating and review, my friend.
Have a great day,
Jesse
-
Ok, I just did not see the machine operated by the hand in your words.
I read your poem several times. No need to defend your work. It just seemed like the sage had more to say on the subject. Perhaps I'm wring.
You have a great day as well.
We've got some beautiful weather, so I should go out and enjoy it.
-
Yes, my weather is beautiful also. Sadly, I have an appointment, and then my caregiver goes to see his other client so, I am spending the day inside. But, I have a great view outside my window to look at.
Enjoy the sunshine a little for me, will you?
Jesse
-
Ok. I hope your health is improving
-
It is...little by little.
Thanks for caring about my health.
Enjoy the day!
Jesse
