Good morning to you, Diane!
And a grand one it is to receive this exceptional rating and review from you!
You are welcome for the smile, let the world smile on you!
As far as chasing my muse, it is mostly inside of me! You have written some fine work this summer and I look forward always to reading what you've got!
Good luck with your chase of the muse inside of you!
Have a lovely Sunday!

Awesome. This is a wonderfully written poem about your muse. It has a great flow and rhyme scheme.
Shopping for your muse in every store
Makes you pine for something even more
Now this game is through the final clue
Writing your very best is just for you
Nicely done.

A well-rhymed poem on finding whatever that elusive thing is that inspires us. We indeed always want to go higher than ever before, and we want to hear that roar within. Yet, our best writing is for us, as you conclude, and also by us, and all we can do is hope it resonates with others, but, as we are each unique, our writing retains our own unique style which we can massage to be our best. Thoughtfully written.

Very enjoyable poem, Jesse! I know I can relate to beckoning the muse!
Sometimes, pen goes to paper and the words write themselves!
Sometimes, I'm struck by inspiration and that darn muse is just out of reach!
The best truth is offered in your final lines...
First and foremost we must write for ourselves!!!
Awesome poem!!!

Good morning, Karenina.
Thanks for finding enjoyment in my poem.
I appreciate the way to describe your words in my review. You are an excellent writer/poet, and I am honored when you review my posts.
I agree that the final lines are my best.
As you say, first and foremost, we must write for ourselves!
Thanks for your kindness and caring.
Have a wonderful day!

"Writing your very best" is not just FOR you, it's BY you. Let's face it, as much as we talk about muses, a muse is just anything that gives you inspiration, but what you do with that inspiration is all yours. You're lucky enough to be able to put your inspirations into words and, as in this case, well-chosen rhymes. Your life and your experiences have been your inspiration, but your creativity and talent in bringing them to life are your gifts, and I'm glad we get to benefit from them.

Thanks, Michele. This is a little bit late but I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your review and the wonderful way you say to me that my inspiration and my gifts are a benefit for all.
You always shower me with praise even when I don't feel that I deserve it.
Yet your boosts of confidence help me more than anything!
Thank you, thank you, and thanks, again!
Have a wonderful weekend, my friend!

Keep one thing in mind, Jesse - I don't lie. I've always had tremendous respect for you. You've gone through so much physically, yet you're one of the most optimistic people I've ever known, and you don't let your physical issues hold you down. You seem to enjoy life, and you certainly express yourself beautifully in your writing. Plus, you come off as a very kind, encouraging person. What's not to like? Remember that the next time you start to doubt yourself. And if my (honest) words are able to boost your ego the way your words often boost mine, I'm glad. Let's just call this a mutual admiration society.

Agreed!!!
I have your back, and you have mine!

Always and forever, my friend!

Thank you for this encouraging exhortation on how to write. My favorite lines were:
"Developing the knack to write is fine
Working on your skills can be a grind"
It's both delightful to write but it can also be labor. But we can "massage" our muse and even be a little crazy to get all those ideas out and practice refining our skills! Well said, Jesse!

You describe writing very well yourself, Helen, you know, from experience, what it is like to write and write well you do!
Thanks for your kindness!

Jesse,
Writing, pen to paper, or fingers to keyboard, is a way of expressing deep inner truths that are a part of you. It is also a way of sharing your light and energy with the reader and wider community. No use in shopping for your muse in every store. When the waves inside you start to roar, it's time to listen, sink into the stillness and let your muse fill the empty space with creativity. You're on your way!

Comment from Gloria ....
A fun romp through the process of chasing your muse. That in itself has offered you many opportunities to find your muse behind doors, in the shopping mall. In and among those places a few poignant points about the work involved in developing your craft.
Very well done, Jesse. Much enjoyed. :)

This poem, Chasing My Muse, flows well and reminds all of us that writing is writing, and the stimulus rises and falls like the sea.

So, Bill, the muse rises and falls like the sea, huh? The stimulus of writing does, I guess.
Thanks for taking the time and effort to review my post.
I appreciate your kindness very much.

I think searching for our muse is akin to chasing rainbows, we want to make sense of the world around us and hope for peace and tranquility in the process so that we sleep easy at night. Unfortunately some people are damaged souls and see the world differently, a poignant write and I understand your plight here, love Dolly x

Peace and tranquility sound good to me as well. I don't know about damaged souls seeing the world differently maybe they do and maybe they don't either way, I feel secure in the knowledge that we are all the same under the skin.
I wouldn't consider chasing my muse my plight, it is rather my intention.
Take good care of yourself, Dolly.
