LOL Thank you for sharing this fun poem and wish we all have a great Labor Day weekend. We are down on the Gulf Coast visiting our youngest son. He's not married, so he gets lonely. LOL I pray you have a wonderful weekend with family.

Very much enjoyed your appointment about the Labor Day weekend. It is very special to hear Tennessee Ernie Ford. I had not heard of him in a long time and yet he was a very famous singer and I enjoyed him. I even got to meet him when I was living in California. patricia.

I am so glad you liked my poem, Patricia. But even better that you liked the The Tennessee Ernie Ford song and got to meet him. How cool is that. I grew up with his music and was mostly a child when he was popular. I don't know when he wasn't popular. He is a classic and a great singer. So my parents had his albums when I was a kid. I thought this song was perfect for Labor Day poem too, so thanks for all your kind words and if you ever want to tell me more about meeting T. E. F. I would love to hear more. Thanks again, sweetie!! Love and Hugs! Debi

I think this is the first poem I have ever read about Labor Day weekend. Your words capture all the fun that can be had, boating, camping and just being outside. Your poem makes the reader feel like she is having fun. Excellent poetic form and use of words.

Thank God this no longer applies to me. In 2010, I bid my farewell to the world of working men and women. Retirement as has been very, very good to me. Occasional boredom is a tiny price to pay for the freedom of no more boss, no more 9 to 5 dictatorship.

I actually retired in the year 2000 because somehow teaching little germ spreading kids finally catches up with you when you have an auto immune disease like lupus. So I had to give it up at 45 years old. That was fine because then I got to watch my grandkids when they were born. Being a young mom means a young grandma. So that was rewarding, however I went years without a paycheck, but we didn't need it anyway.
I am glad that you have been retired for fourteen years now. Boredom is always well received if you counteract that with writing. It's good for the soul. Of course you knew that already. LOL...
It was nice to hear more about you. I always love that. Thanks my dear BBBB for being such a Bold and Brave Big Brother. Hugs!
Did you like the poem at all? Love, Debi

I loved it, please forgive me for not stating the obvious.

I didn't mean it that way, but after I got done enjoying your retirement speech, I noticed it wasn't like you to say anything about the poem. And forgive me for saying this, but dang it bro, I think you have me spoiled. LOL. I wasn't offended at all, but worried you maybe didn't like it. Thanks for putting my mind at ease. Love and hugs. You got everyone looking forward to a fantastic labor-day weekend and then you remind us, "Tuesday, go back, to work again." =) . Thank God, I am retired. =).
Loved the flow of your rhyming poem. BTW, the painting is superb, too. Thanks, Debbie, for sharing.

Hahaha, Shanbreen, am I a meany or what? Giving all that fun information about camping and then at the end, rub it in to those who have to go back to work. LOL..
I have been retired too from teaching since the year 2000 when I realized that all those little germ carriers were not good for someone with lupus. I was only in my early forties at the time, but we really didn't need my income anyway. I just loved teaching.
Sorry, I do get carried away when talking about what I love. Btw, I loved the nostalgia of that painting too.
Thanks again for all your kind words, my awesome friend. Love, Debi
P.S. thank you so very much for your generous six stars. It is always an honor to receive.

Great poem to start off the weekend of celebrations. Yes, it's the end of the summer season, and I'm ready for fall and some cooler weather. I like the monorhymes throughout. Cute picture to set off your good poem. Blessings, and enjoy the holiday. Carol

Hey Carol, i hear you about the cooler weather. I love having windows open and too often we go right to winter from summer, so we don't get enough time to air out the house.
I truly appreciate your lovely comments for the Labor Day poem. I thought it was time since I never saw one on here before.

I guess we celebrate the day with picnics and gatherings, and not much writing! I enjoyed my nap! LOL!

I remember being in New York for labor day back in 2014, we were just in time for all the sales. It isn't a long weekend for us in the UK sadly, but we had a bank holiday last week. I hope you have a great day.

Hi Jacob, I have been hearing a lot about the bank holiday today. I will have to google it and find out more. I had never heard of it before.

I like your take on Labor day. For me, it usually just means a work day. But it does signal the end of summer and slowly our over abundance of tourists starts to get less and less. Very festive poem for this holiday. Gretchen

Hi Gretchen, well that sucks that you get stuck working on Labor Day. I didn't think pharmacies were open on holidays. In MN none of the stores except Walmart and Target are open.

It's an American tradition to get out and enjoy Labor Day. Since my husband and Mama's birthday fall (fell) on the same day we've always had something. We've never had to worry about anything more than a raincoat here in the south, but in New York, it was a different story. Haul out the blanket fir the campfire! A delightful post and beautifully illustrated, my friend.
Love & Blessings always and Happy Labor Day to you all!!
