Essay on Goals

I started reading this with the attitude of "Here goes another useless pep talk." I finished with some profound new ideas about goals.
I was particularly impressed when the essay immediately went beyond the realm of `riches' etc. and into the deeper goals of life. This is an element too often missed in many inspirational pieces.
You made me think today, and for that, I thank you!

Thank you. I am getting invaluable input from reviews. The reason for my joining this site was to improve my communication skills and create a book in the process. The book will be titled "From Now On" and intends to turn attention towards creating a future that echoes John Lennon's "Imagine." All essays published here will be converted to chapters that delve into the subject further. They are my templates. I invite you to participate as much as you like. My profile has all the essays to date. Collaboration to share royalties is fine with me...John

A very interesting and informative essay. My mother works in a similar area to that which you describe, although more tailored towards goals specific to the workplace rather than life in general. Some of the texts you mention sound very helpful, and the exercise about writing down the goals and thinking about what you would change if death was around the corner (as of course, it really is) are definitely something I would be willing to try. Thanks for sharing your experience with us all.

Have you ever Read any of Carlos Castaneda's books. If not I do believe you would gain a further insight to the awareness of life from his books. His mentor was an Indian Shaman By the name of Don Juan Mattus. I'm not sure if a spelled his last name correctly here, as it's been a long time since I have read one of these books. I enjoyed reading this well written article... John

The Toltec teachings of scientific spirituality he depicts include Casteneda and others. They will be identified in the book. title", I thought
the comma comes after 'title' and I don't think thae titles of works you are naming are supposed to use the " marks. the ' mark will suffice. You will need to check the use of comma's after the naming of a title also. You have done it in some places and not in others.
their actions upon these news and you find
should it not be 'this news'?
what we born to do
we 'were' born to do
perhaps spouse
perhaps 'a' spouse
Good, clear and concise advice. Very well done. I think you would benefit from the attentions of a good editor as I'm no spag hunter and even I picked up a few little nits. Keep it up mate, well done.

Wonderful! As a very goal-oriented person, I found this essay very helpful. You stated so many true steps that are needed in order to fully accomplish your goal. Great job!

Interesting piece and point of view. It is well written though a little wordy. Your logic follows a clear line of thought. Keep Writing.

You should take out the apology in the writer's notes. Whether the write took an hour or more, the opinions were garnered over a lifetime and as such should not be dismissed or for that matter minimized. By doing so you may evoke in the reader a toss off essay. They may even feel foolish for their absorbtion in your comments.
What comes easy to some may indeed be a traumatic turn in thinking.
I've been in sales for 30 years (jewelry manufacturing) and as such have watched the ego's and buyer's needs unfold in front of my observant, but unexpressive eyes.
Kenny Roger's has a good philosophy as well...."Don't count your money when it's sitting on the table. There'll be time enough....
And so, in your essay you have identified the differance between the "buyers and the sellers" of the world. Those, regardless of profession who waith for life to happen to them, using whatever imagined status they believe they have, and, the sellers who go out their and make things happen.
Reads like the beginning of a book.
Sounds like the beginning of a book.

The replies and comments I have received have been undeniably the best experience yet. I am trying so hard to pay more attention to my delivery and still my ego blather sneaks in. Thank you so much for the very valuable input...John

I'll keep my eye on your work and I will call you on your
ego" In this one you wrote an exceptional dialogue that few people short of those who consider themselves pros have ever considered.
It'd like a switch goes off in their head if the delivery is well positioned to entice them to think, rather than get defensive.

I think this is my last 6 star I'd give two of them if I had more. Very interesting, a great read and lots to learn. I disagree with compettion. I believe compettion is a great help in acheving goals. Maybe I read that wrong. But other then that I tried to soak up as much as I could. I'm going to read it again.
