Dear Jesse, I have a condition that affects my balance and mobility so I know a little about how down we can become. And looking back on the past is a natural habit when we don't feel (literally) grounded in the present. But, yes, organising oneself with paperwork can be great therapy - Tidy desk, tidy mind. Also ensuring that your home setting is fully equipped with grab handles etc and anything that can make your day to day living as stress-free as possible. Change can be a challenge but, there again, managing it and having a fresh face in your life may well prove very satisfying. Try not to be too harsh on yourself. From the sound of it you've got an exciting hurdle (not literally:)) ahead and I will look forward to hearing how you achieve that goal. Bless you, Debbie

Thanks, Debbie, for your encouraging review. Your support means a lot to me. I have grab bars and all the necessary equipment in my apartment. I'll keep you posted on my goals.
Take care, Jesse

Hi Jesse,
I am so glad to hear from you and glad you are sharing with your FanStory family. I understand that physical health issues can cause anxiety and depression. But I also know we can't focus on the unpleasant things in our life.
The good news is, you're getting important things done at your desk. The other thing is that, as online friends and caregivers leave...they pave the way for new friends, caregivers, and new beginnings. Your dad was right. "The only constant in life is change." That holds true for everyone's life.
Like you, I use a walker, and do seated, chair exercises each day. I, too, am looking to get stronger. We will get there. I promise.
The other good news is...you are a writer. Journaling always helps, and sharing with other writer friends lifts spirits. Continue your beautiful upbeat attitude and you will reap the benefits. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for sharing, Jesse, and with honesty. I saw many positives - firstly, the wonderful news that you are now on your feet, and walking. It doesn't matter if you are using a walker - you have still come a long way from a couple of years ago. Also you have tackled those required jobs and completed them - that will give you a sense of satisfation and accomplishment. They're done! I am sorry your worker is leaving, but see this as an opportunity to meet someone new and make another friend. Yes, every day is a new start, a fresh beginning, for all of us. Hang in there. You've got this.

Hi Jesse, it is so good to see you in print. You have been missed. Your writing is thought-provoking and most relatable. Of note:
I've even sent in my ballot, voting ahead of schedule knowing I will make a difference.
(Yes, every vote counts; very vote makes a difference. It doesn't matter what side of the aisle you are on.)
I'm sorry that Grace, your caregiver, is moving on. I know that you grow fond of your caregivers, and I believe that all of them have been fond of you as well.
I liked your father's saying, "The only constant in life is change."
That saying jogged my memory to when I used to work. I also had a saying ... "The only rule is...there are No rules."
I also liked:
Everything starts from now.
(J, the above is so true.)
Jesse, your writing is heartfelt. I'm cheering for you that One day You will walk across the room with No help at all. How wonderful that will be. Till then. There is hope.
It's so good to see you writing again. One of the best things about FS is that there is always a Light on. Someone is always there. Someone is waiting for someone just like You. Well done. Margaret ~ LateBloomer

He'll, Jesse, it's good to hear from you. I love your post, it's very honest and insightful. I know many can relate to it.
I can relate to your personal essay. I suffer from anxiety too. I also suffer from depression but thanks to medication I have been doing well for the last seven years. Finding the right medication and doctor is hard, I am grateful I have both.
Have you thought about asking your doctor if you are depressed? Feeling the blues and depression are different things. But you know best.
I have a hard time with the end of relationships. I understand losing caregivers must be hard.
End of ...
Walking is good for us, well done. You have a positive attitude and that's wonderful.
I voted early too. :)

Hello, Jesse,
I love every morsel of your narrative and the positive attitude that is embedded within it.
You pose a number of thoughtful commentaries.
I especially appreciated how you personified your desk - and the approach/avoidance concept it holds for you.
Always remember: "Nose to Toes" Anything is possible; that is for certain!
Much enjoyed, Jesse.
Thank you for sharing!
fondly,
diane

Hello Diane!
Thanks for mentioning the structure of the piece and not just the content. Both are equally important but it is nice to know you as a writer are watching how I put together a post.
You were one of the first to review and I appreciate your kindness and thoughtfulness for doing so.
I am glad you enjoyed this piece.
Take good care of yourself, my friend.
Jesse

This is where we're at and I feel sorry for you that you are dealing with this particular problems in your life. It's not a very comfortable feeling to know that you're losing someone that you cared for. I wish you the very best and I do hope that God will comfort you. Patricia

Good for you, Jesse! You keep up that walking and slowly but surely 'expand' your walking path... gives you a wonderful sense of accomplishment for each 'expansion' and the increased physical exercise makes dealing with 'the desk' a bit easier... :-) Thank you for sharing such an important and personal part of you with all of us... Go Jesse!! ;) ;) Yvette

I think it becomes increasingly difficult to deal with change as we age and keeping up with our commitments presents a daily challenge when we have ill health. The loss of friends who we care about can destroy our self esteem and make us sad. A poignant post Jesse. Keep your chin up, tomorrow is another day and the sun always comes up as nothing changes there, love Dolly x

Thanks, Dolly, for your encouraging review. As we age we find it more difficult to process the changes in our lives.
Your support means the world to me.
Take care, Jesse
