Your perspective hits it right on in very few words. And I love the picture, Frank Gorshin on Star Trek, "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield", one of my favorite episodes.

Hi Monte,
Is that legal to combine them? LOL! I dunno...hmmmm...anyway, far as I can tell you have met all of the requirements for a Haiku and anytime one accomplishes that, they've done a great work.
KUDOS!

You have written about a subject close to my heart. I worked in the mental health field for years, and had a good friend who had rapid cycling bipolar disorder--it ended her life in a severe depressed phase. Perfect 5,7,5 format and excellent words that illustrate this debilitating illness. Great imagery, too. Well done.

Hi Monte. I don't have any personal experience of manic depression but I have cared for people who suffer from it and you have described the ups and downs very well in this short poem

Manic Depression--How many crimes has the medical world committed in its way to treat it; Lobatomies, electrical shock, mis-diagnosis. Your poem brings forth negative thought and emotions. Your description is right on.

A poem about Manic Depression
Depression.
Which is very common today
Manic Depression
Flying high out of control
Darkness is coming
This what happens and drugs taken can increase the risk.
