This is a poignant and beautiful tribute to a woman who once held the narrator up and affirmed his worth and has now fallen victim to the demons that rob the aged of their former selves.
It is so genuine in tone - I can't say enough how meaningful it is.

Okay, this one needs to come with a "kleenex will be necessary" warning at the top! Wow. What a beautiful love story, one that could easily be expanded into a short story or novella if you wanted to.

Nor can I. The thought gives me cold chills, and I can only imagine how the elderly feel when their life partner leaves them. I guess this poem is a reminder to me not to take for granted what I currently have and make the most of it.

But she was like a message sent for me to try again
She always told me I was just as good as better men
I lived a happy life while she remained there by my side
With pride, she wore my wedding band when she became my bride

This stanza made me feel all warm inside! A lovely poem.
I think she probably has angels waiting for her, not demons. She sounds like a wonderful person.
