That's too funny. The sad truth is kids do pick up the wrong language from watching sports. If "Mr. Baseball" can say it what's wrong him saying it--sad, but true. A good write my friend and the best of luck in the contest.

Well done! You wrote a very entertaining little story which was hilariously funny. Children can get themselves into a world of confusion sometimes when adults take advantage.
Good luck in the competition.

Ha-ha... kids. This is difficult for patents, right? The ending is sure hilarious, but you cannot blame the boy for asking ... :)

Hahaha! Kids! Absorb and learn everything quickly. I have really enjoyed this story of the big leagues. You have worked in the naive attitude of the child to perfection, as well as the reaction of the mother. I love the ending, I laughed heartily child's ingenuity. Congratulations and good luck!

If writing children's stories is a specialized genre, writing through the eyes of a child is an art form all of its own. It can never be simple. Children are never simple.
They see and hear too clearly, something they learn to lose as they grow older, as the adults impose themselves; as they learn to imitate those adults. You managed to paint a picture of your son, still unspoiled, still in touch with something of himself and he probably can inject more meaning into words, especially the suggestive words, than we adults can do. Nice, sensitive writing. He sounds like a good, intelligen boy. - Ekim

Very cute! I love the dialogue here, and it is easy to see a little boy talking to his mom with perhaps even an innocence. He's just trying to be like the big boys who play ball and talk just like them. Excellent story that held my interest. And it just so happens I DID get my mouth washed out with Ivory soap but only once--once was enough. To this day, I have hated Ivory Soap. Connie

this is very well written, mystery writer, i love the idea of a child actually getting punished for talking that way, a lot of children these days are allowed too much freedom of expression, i wish you the best of luck in the contest.

ANY soap with a fragrance was nasty stuff! Ivory, Irish Spring, Dawn, Palmolive....ok. Guess we know who had the potty-mouth in MY family, lol. This was so much fun to read--bet your a$$ I won't be letting my kids read this though! No confirmation on Ivory's ability to make things grow (I'm not a guy), but darned if I'm not still allergic to the "clean 99.44" (I still remember the commercial jingle). Thanks for the laugh and best wishes in the contest!

Hilarious. I can just see the kid sliding into home in the kitchen. Trying on new words is such a big thing with little things. George Carlin would be proud.
