This wasn't just creepy and chilling, it was very very Stephen King worthy, my friend! Surprising, horrifying, delightful. Great, just glad I read it in daylight

Dean--
Well, how deliciously creepy! Yes, original too.
I have a problem with this sentence. Unlike Jay Squires I cannot give my problem a name but it seems more than one sentence to me, or not well structured:
The costume party guests soon began to arrive, as witches, vampires, goblins and ghouls - presenting themselves in spectacular get-ups - began filing into the couple's apartment.
Otherwise the dinner is perfectly undone.
Thanks

There are, rituals like this do exist, unfortunately.
Thanks for the review, Joann...

I like the way you structure your sentences. They are concise and to the point and still manage to convey horror. The dialogue is sparse and sprinkled in the right places. And the last line 'And now...let's have that dessert' lets you know more horror is coming. Well done.

Dark is certainly the first word that comes to mind to describe this most unique story. While I can't say I like it, I must admit it is cleverly constructed and well written.
The story makes a good case for becoming a vegetarian.
Very good posting.

Hey, thanks for the generous sixer, K. Lorraine, and the great comments you shared with me as well. I appreciate them all... :}

The story was vile and only a few writers would dare go there. I don't yet know your identity, but I dare to think that this is NOT your first time in writing horror... your story reminded me too much of a flash that I recently wrote about baking a kidnapped baby at 350 degrees. I was torn between voting for your story or another, and decided that as a mother, I couldn't go down that road again... but you deserved the six for the guts, glory and creativity of the piece. K. Well, that's reason enough for me. I do appreciate it, too! :}

Excellent story. Seen no mistakes. Writing was very interesting.
" We give thanks to you, oh Dark Lord, for this fabulous bounty we are about to so gratefully receive."
After the child was devoured, George proposed a toast to his wife, the guest of honor.

OMG!! That was terrifying! What a gory imagination you have, I have to say I think I know who the author is, no one else could write something so frightening! Even Steven King would be put in the shade with this flash fiction story! I think this has got to be the winner! Good luck! xsx Sandra

Think again, Sandra. At least you think so, and I appreciate that
Thanks for reading.

You had my vote, I thought it was way out the best one there. Some didn't even come near being flash fiction.
Comment from Bill Schott
This is definitely a ghoulish affair that has all the flair of an upper crust party. The outcome was fairly predictable (though I should be aghast). The beauty is in the telling, of course. Good story.
2d paragraph...(Thank) heavens...
4th paragraph...labor (took) hold...

Why does the more perfect specimens of humanity fall prey to the worm that flies in the night, envy? Is every living thing drawn to something beautiful and then tempted to destroy it? If this is so, then we must ask why. Why was Iago drawn to the innocence of Othello and why did he want to destroy him? This said, I fail to understand the horror created in this piece, not since I read the Last twelve Caesers by Suetoneous. Was not cannibalism the first great sin to be stamped out of civilized life; followed by incest. now we have left, our killer instincts. -Ekim777

Unfortunately, Ekim777, children as well as adults are still devoured in all sorts of rituals all over the world. People can try to deny that things like this exist, and they can choose to look the other way, but that won't make it go away. The sad fact is, there is true evil in the world, regardless of what anyone thinks. I know, I've seen it, up close and personal. The best defense against evil is knowledge, for knowledge is power.
Thank you very much for your review.
