A set of sad, rhetorical questions that have been reverberating for centuries now. Your meter and tempo were very well done. It flowed easily with no forced rhymes whatsoever. I feel as if your work is improving with time here.

Thank you so much Rachelle. I know I don't follow the rules and I never have. I guess I am kind of a Bob Dylan type guy lol! I really appreciate your review!

We're kindred spirits then, Harry. I'm a rebel, as well.

Lol! It's the only way to be...I have always been.

I enjoyed the deep meaning of your poem. We are far from peace in this world, but I do not think that it is hopeless. Your poem expresses the reality of the situation.

My children often said things like "that's not fair". Sadly, it's true, these things you describe are not fair and often the innocent suffer at the alter of greed and egos of others.
We are a selfish lot and I pray we will wake up and smell the roses one day.
Well done.
Blessings

There are some deep reflections here.
I could feel your perplexity and sadness over the state of our world in this piece.
Let's continue to pray for better times and try to do our parts individually to discourage conflict & promote peace.
Happy New Year!

Like you, I long for our society to dwell in peace and safety. But, I think we have to keep fighting in our local communities for decency and a good way of life for all of us... it starts locally. Well said.

A perfect poem for the world today where so much upheaval and strife is absolutely everywhere. Hopefully one day man will stop doing such awful things to himself. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, Marilyn. You are so right. Only GOD knows why I guess? Thank you for your review. I really appreciate that!

I agree with the sentiments of your poem that you have expressed so clearly. This was not the purpose of creation by a loving God, but sin changed everything. We can rely only on God mercy. I love your imagery of a heart punctured by a bristling thorn. That's very creative.

Your words are so relevant to today's world. The violence seems to continue as war rages on in various parts of the world. You have a smooth flow of rhyming words that adds strength to your theme.

There will always be a war somewhere unfortunately, as humans, mainly men, enjoy a good war. Innocent people, including children will suffer. I admire your plea here for peace and when one war ends, another begins.
Often war is not about those who live in poverty but about the greed of the leaders. I sincerely hope that the world is at peace during 2025.
I don't believe in capital punishment and we ended all that in the UK in 1964. I hope the US realises that the death penalty does not prevent crime, and it is a barbaric and criminal act against our religious beliefs.
This is a brave post Harry, love Dolly x

Well, Dolly. I have read the Bible from cover to cover and it states there will always be wars and rumours of wars till the end of time. Maybe it is designed that way. Thank you so much for your review. I really appreciate that!

Well, Harry, I am afraid that you're describing what the human race is all about. Peace is a lovely thought but an utopia. My generation has had a great run of living in peace, but that has all come to an abrupt end - unfortunately- All best, Ulla:)))

Yes, Ulla. I am afraid you are right. It is a great dream, but we are far from peace today. Thank you for your review. I really appreciate that!
