This is a winner if I ever saw one. Awesome 5-7-5 and the picture and the count Dracula theme puts the final touches on with perfection. Thanks and good luck.

Thanks, TOMORAL, I wish more people thought so. It's losing badly in the contest.
Thanks for the great review, much appreciated!

A splendidly graphic presentation of your contest entry. Stirring music and image! I imagine that there would have been at least a spike in the heartbeat of fear if not of actual respect!

Thanks, Tony. Old Vlad was not a Turkish prince I would have wanted to cross, that's for certain. A fierce warrior in battle, and a ruthless executioner if you happened to be captured by him.

Now that you changed the pic I see that you did decide to enter after all, huh? Lol. Maybe it's going over my head or something but I seem to be missing "Dracula" in the piece. That's what the contest is based on. It's a killer piece though with some actual wit to it and an awesome pic to boot. Best of luck in the voting, friend.

Hey, just read through your reviews so you don't need to tell it all again. I see where Dracula comes in now. Good luck, friend.

Hah, thanks, DragonSkulls, you headed me off at the pass, so to speak. I'm surprised more people do not know that Bram got his idea for his book from the barbarous deeds of Vlad the Impaler. Of course, I live and breath horror and it's histories, so...

    Thanks again, my friend!

Mystery Poet, not sure if this is too late for best wishes in the contest, but, if not, good luck because I think it filled the request in great detail and I loved the picture choice as well.

Thanks a bunch, gramalot8, I sincerely appreciate the well wishes and the excellent review. The contest has about two hour to go, and Vlad the Impaler trails by a single vote. There's always hope!

Thanks so much again, my friend.

Vlad the Impaler was rumoured to be the basis of Dracula, so I guess you are safe on that point. Only one question - enemies' ?? But I don't think that punctuation is required. The music was a bit much, but likely of great appeal to others. Overall, a good presentation. Thanks for sharing, Brent.

Thanks, Brent. I left all punctuation out, as this was a 5-7-5, and as you know, they are traditionally punctuation free. I felt if I added some punctuation, I'd have to add it all.

Thanks again, my friend. Much appreciated!

Actually, you are right. In fact, I normally say the same thing. I still liked it. Brent

Well done, Dean. I always wonder where you get these pictures of warriors and spooks and vampires and zombies. You never just 'post' - you display. Good on you.

Hi Mystery Author,
Why would anyone cross an impaler? I would think any foe would run helter skelter.
Terrific presentation of Vlad, Count Dracula, an ominous villain.
Strong verbs in "staked/spiked".
One question... should "foes" have an apostrophe?
"foe's respect soon spiked"
great consonance with "s".
Blood & guts!

Good Luck in the contest!
cheers

I like it. Good content with proper syllable count and well done with assonance of "p" in Impaler/poles/spiked. The pictorial and musical effects emphasises the theme well. Thank for sharing and I hope you will win it. Cheers.

Thanks, Paul. It looks bad right now, but there is still a little time left for voting, Who knows, it may catch on...

:-) Cute message in your 5-7-5 poem. All syllables correct in number and in the right place. Magnificent presentation.. I would give you a six if I had it. Looks perfect to me in every way. Good luck in the contest, you have a great entry.
