"The Longing", is short, succinct and very much to the point. Not for a moment would I attempt to answer this talented poet's rhetorical question.
I look forward to seeing your next post.

I wonder too...could it be our greed for more and not being content? Despite its brevity, the verse speaks volumes about human nature; thanks for sharing and welcome to the site and the best of writing!

Why... I suspect it's partly hereditary and partly it's by choice. I also suspect that even those that don't participate, don't have the same desires, still envy the people that do. I am always impressed with your erotic but very tasteful illustrations. I hope you continue writing in this manner. Best wishes.

Of course, it was my pleasure.

"Ravenous yearning returning to seize my thoughts" describes so well how whatever it is deep inside, that yearning, can overpower our intellect and self-control. Beautifully expressed. Keep writing!

I thought this made for an excellent entry for the contest.
Good luck!
The caption or poem itself captures the essence of the depicted image.
I wonder how it'll place in the contest!?
Keep writing!

Hello to you
Yes, we all arrive at this question at some point and perhaps *that's* what it is all about, this journey through the senses; to seek (but not necessarily find) this answer.
This is good use of (a very limited) form.
If I have a suggestion it might be to thing about the word 'seize'. Although there's nothing wrong with it, having introduced the sensation of hunger as your metaphor in line one, you might consider extending it, rather than veering away into a physical action, i.e. to seize. Just a thought.
I wish you well
cheers

Welcome, Opal Rose. Your poem glides on easily. A wonder why we wonder? You're right that we probably are looking for something. Maybe the things you list. Maybe something else. I hope we all find out the answer to this someday!
