Good complimentary photo that includes animation. Good use of the abab rhyme scheme. Good end rhyming. Good descriptive wording that gives this piece more punch. Good alliteration. Clear message filled with horror that holds my attention from start to finish.

Hah,, thank you, Sueellen11. I have to agree, I lean on the side of "sick", rather than "romantic". I mean, c'mon, to have romance requires a mutual response, right?

Thanks so much for your review, and opinions!

Yes that is dose,,, romance is mutual,,, sue

Wow. Thought of Poe immediately--poor Annabelle Lee many and many a year ago in that kingdom by the sea. So sad. But I muted the music, Dean. lol
You know, the Chinese have a tradition of "ghost marriages," where one or both of the betrothed has passed away, but the ceremony and marriage go forth--sans corpse. That guy is a bit delusion, poor fellow.
Loved the Poe-like language here--faeries, clamor, beseech, thee, dost, betrothed, twixt. Wonderfully reminiscent of his work and tone and just the feel of his prose transferred to poetry. Fabulous rhyming--shame and reign are perfection. Those last two stanzas are just perfectly petrifying and so descriptive. The entire work is powerful. Loved it, as usual.
I did go back to the Gingerbread story and reread, as well. Such wonderful work. You reworked in several spots, and, while it was already great, you just brought it up to spit and polish status.
Always fun and inspiring to read anything you write.

Thanks, vkmack, what a nice thing to say. As you can probably tell, I am now, and have always been, a huge fan of everything that Poe has ever written, even his essays, LOL...

As far as the story, 'Gingerbread Love' goes, I meant what I said when I told you that if and when I quit listening to the advice of those who read my work, then I may as well just hang up any aspirations of becoming an accomplished writer, right now! I always galls me when you try and help someone and they take offense to it. The only time I truly take offense is when someone lays a two-star rating on my work simply because I have an automatic soundtrack that opens when you begin to read the post. But, que sera, sera...

Thanks so much again, vkmack, for everything!

I completely understand. I don't think it's fair to give someone a two or three for punctuation errors, but not identify what they are. Often, when that happens, the suggestions are incorrect and make things worse. I think people have a hard time being objective because they need to feel accomplished as reviewers--not necessarily helpful. Constructive criticism is the key. I'm gotten many "I just don't like it" reviews. Well, move on to something else or tell me what is so offensive. But that's what they do. We just have to move on and know what we do well--and what we don't.
You are always welcome, Dean. You are a phenomenal talent, and I'm thrilled to be involved a little around the edges.
    Thanks again.

i have learned not to read your work near bed time. The start of a new day would be better. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a good read.

Hah, well, considering the subject matter, I'd say that was a wise choice, Charlie, heh-heh...

Thanks for the great review. Much appreciated!

This is an extremely interesting topic. Truth is indeed stranger than fiction. There have been several people who have been necrophiliacs, (Ted Bundy comes to mind), but I haven't come across people getting married to corpses before. This is mind-boggling.

The subject is strange and creepy. Maybe it is heartbreaking too in a way. Never heard of something like this before. But, as usual, your writing is excellent with well chosen words skillfully crafted into this verse. I love your creative layout. Run out of sixes but it is deserving of a six.

Hi,
I was surprised to read your notes. It is sweet but creepy too that he married her this way.
As I have said, I am loving these writes. The wording is very apt and it flows very well for this reader. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks very much, Anupam. I am truly glad you are enjoying my 'pictapoem' series of poems. They're not for everyone, I'll admit. They get lot of criticism behind my back for using all of the bells and whistles that I employ. They say if I had any confidence in my writing, I would let the poem stand on its own merits. To me, that's a ludicrous statement. It's like saying broccoli is a good enough vegetable, it shouldn't have to be smothered in melted cheddar...

    Thanks again, my friend.

Thus, such surreal stories based upon actual (yet quite bizarre) truths inspired me to write this poem.
You see? Truth is, indeed, stranger than fiction...

Hi Dean, a beautiful truth you wrote about the most important factor that we have to respect each human being have their feelings, there own mourning, principals, way of thinking, a way to love, if dead or alive, and I think like you, we have to respect them and not judge them. Nobody know the state of mind of another person. I enjoyed so much the depth in your poem, you wrote that freedom should exist, and respect. Well done Dean. Amazing. Hugs Terry

What a creepy story behind your inspiration! Nice poem, though! The poem reads smoothly, and the alliteration helps to define it. Great job!

My wife and I have been having a ball with this. Amazing what people do. Real life more creepy than what our twisted imaginations can come up with. This is amazing. Writing, presentation, music...everything. Awesome and entertaining as can be. mikey

Thanks very much Mikey (and wifey, too, LOL!) I am very happy that you liked it!

It really is a strange world in which we live. Then stories like this come along, like the one that inspired this poem, and it restores my faith in humanity, Ha ha!

Thanks for the great review, Mike!
