I've not seen that film, it sounds like it's one that I'll cry over. That is a sad poem, Nomi, Alzheimer's is the worst ever disease. Taking away your mind, your memories, and family. How frightening it must be for them, and how painful for those who are slowly losing the one they love. You wrote about this illness with such compassion, it was lovely, sad and honest. This poem was cleverly written and quite joyous in the midst of sorrow. I know the look in a spouses' eyes when he really didn't recognize me, 'tho we'd been married 40 years.

My oldest sister Dolores died at 93 and she had Alzheimer's for years before her death. Her husband was checked into the same nursing home and wooed her all over, becoming her new love and they made their transition very well. It is a sad, sad situation for families going through this. Well done,

I watched my mom stand by my dad who suffered from Alzheimers. This is a horrible disease. Last night, one of my son's high school friends was at our house. He's going to watch our cats, water our garden, and watch the house while we're at my granddaughter's graduation for a few weeks. His dad had surgery for a brain tumor a few months back. His mom also taught with me. I asked how his dad was doing. Tears entered this 30-year-old male's eyes. We hugged as he said, "He has good days and bad. I'm happy for the days he remembers who I am." I stopped and prayed with him.

Thank you. My dad lasted for 7 years before succumbing to it. The last time I visited him, he never even opened his eyes.
