A delicious sensorial treat, Dean. Loved this especially:

'He wrote of magic in the air,
a dragon cruel, young maiden fair,
of goblins, ghouls and ghastly girls
black pirates robbing them of pearls...'

I'm always impressed with your storytelling ability whether prose or poetry.

As to your AN's... you do raise some thoughts for consideration.

Well done, my friend.

Great poem, great presentation and a great story. I believe from the works that you have submitted to this site. you are a writer, Dean. I'm someone who tries to be a writer. This site has allowed me the chance to be read. That really didn't happen before FanStory. Sorry, I'm rambling. A great deal of truth in your piece and I liked it. Best wishes.

Thank you, Victor. I very happy that you feel that way at least. (LOL)

In all seriousness, I'd never dabbled much in poetry before coming to FanStory. I have learned a great deal here as well, my friend.

I like this poem it is amusing. The illustration of the pictures in action is superb. It is unusual but strikes the point. A writer striving for thirty years to reach some kind of fame was illustrated. The typing of the articles in an old manual typewriter adds to its beauty. The throwing of the file-folders containing the manuscripts that never seemed to make the score was very illuminating. The rhyme and rhythm, as well, is excellent. My sincerest congratulations. Dom

Unusual...that's me in a nutshell, Dom. I'm always trying to think outside that proverbial "box". I'm really pleased that you enjoyed this one, however. I certainly appreciate you sharing your thoughts with me about it, and for the most generous review, as well.

Awesome! Love it! Love those cool pics. Where do you find them???? How do you insert animated images anyway? I've never been able even to copy one to my computer.

This is yet another interesting poem from the author in this piece of writing. I often wondered what I would say if I got published and they called me an overnight success. I too have been toiling away for years, but it is a labour of love so I will continue as long as I am able.

Dean,
it's easy and a pleasure to give you a six for your story/poem desiring to be a continuous success.
Glad you didn't add a character . To me anyone who has tired to get published can get to the point like you said-
when no new ideas come into sight.

Gert

Ah, the life of the author. Working so hard to get ideas down and no one seems to care and then when the fame finally comes the characters take over. You make a good point about the characters--who owns them? Some of them end up more famous than their creators. Love the satire in this one, and the ending is excellent.

This was an excellent write. The story kept my interest. the meter, and rhyme were timed perfection. The poem had a good flow, and was easy to understand. The ending was alright. Good work, and God bless.

A most intriguing piece; the tragedy of the genius and the crowd. Beethoven reached an apex where he was the greatest living composer on the planet yet he lived and died in isolation, squalor and poverty whereas lesser mortals reaped their unwarranted social rewards. Beethoven wrought his revenge; He knew he was good. Musically he was devilish good. It was almost as if he had sold his soul to the devil. He was above that too. He showed humanity how to exult in spite of their suffering. Now we see the difference between your hero and mine. Who is to say who suffered most. Who can explain how and why the creative artist suffers. One thing is for sure. The appreciation of the crowd can never be compensation still your composer was a tragic hero, no mean feat in an anti-heroic era. -Ekim777
