A splendid series of descriptions of what love is and what its effect can be, both on ourselves and on others. I very much enjoyed reading this one. Wishing you a happy Easter.

love is great and all around
love makes the heart softly pound
love is not just found in bed
love is us planning to wed

love is knowing they will not stay
love is caring for the child
love is daring and quite wild .....' this is beautifully written and very clever use of repetition, kindest regards and well done Meia xx

Love is painful, love is dark
so disdainful--it's a lark.
Broken hearts that never mend
I won't fall in love again....Of course, I had to add my two-cents-worth to your optimistic outlook on love and all that it entails, Kahpot.
I do not need the love of a woman to make me feel whole.
It's been my experience on more than one occasion that love has just the opposite effect in making us whole.
You're right too, of course. You have every right to express love the way you see fit.

Thanks again I think maybe we write and think a little bit the same but express in different ways
silence is lonely have no doubt
silence is love trying to get out
I'll pay your two cents back until next time ****kahpot

Until next time then, my friend.

Hi Kahpot, Well, your title asks 'What is Love', but you know all the answers. You have listed them clearly in your poem. It is only when these answers are not collowed that things go wrong. But real love does overcome many obstacles. I like your two lines 'but love for me while on my own would just be words left unknown'.
So true! A good poem that suggests much feeling went in to the writing of it. Warm rgards Dorothy Ah, have just read your prefix over your title 'felt this love, thou short in time'. This tells me a lot!

This is a what we all want, a love like this, each line profound and with feeling, spelling the ideals of the heart, unfortunately even when in love it's not always this easy and you conclude with the lost love finale which makes this excellent poem all the more convincing.
Have a lovely day

kahpot,
Very descriptive and created impressions that are very vivid and understandable.
Very well written work. Very enchanted flow of words. Understandable and thought provoking but especially insightful comments.
There was no SPAG. No typos. No homophones. No problems at all.
I look forward to seeing you again.
Love you,
Oatmeal

What beautiful descriptions here of what love is! All so very true too, love is all of these, the building of lives together, and life itself. So lovely, blessings...

A very well-written poem about love and what can we find about love that can make it last forever. If love is only find in bed only there is nothing else but lust. When you cannot be a best friend to your lover the love making will fade and left someone devastated.

This is a gem.
I like (love???) all the examples you put into this poem about what love is. It's great, and all true, though few are surprises. In any case, your organization and word choices are excellent.
I like the ending. That was unexpected. "love them wrong and you will find...." Genius.
But my favorite part is the perfect rhythm of the piece, As I say often to poets on FanStory, I read your poem aloud several times and found it made my toes tap. This wins for me every time. Wish I still had a six.
