LOL! That quickly escalated into a World War Z scenario! :) A fitting pandemic time Halloween poem!
Sadly, the resulting poverty could be the other, even more dreadful interpretation of this poem :(

At the beginning of the lock down my then 5 yo announced he wanted to be coronavirus for Halloween - but I discouraged this idea...respect towards those who lost so much...

Jyoti, thank you very much for your review and kind words. Do you think my horror haiku is disrespectful? I don't intend it that way. Would you let me know?

Nooooo! I think it's a fun zombie apocalypse.
Just the Halloween+virus theme reminded me of this story...sorry that I was rumbling!

I liked the previous version, too. This moved away from the present pandemic, alltogether. I didn't think it was desrespectful before, but now there's no more covid context, so if you run into somone who had it, or had losses, it sure won't be association with covid. Again, I liked the original, too.

Yes, I miss Dean, he was such a nice person. Excellent horror poem that gives the reader chills. The idea of mutated covid is clever and fits your theme of horror perfectly. Your poem is definitely scary.

That's a good theme for this year's Halloween theme. It's so difficult to pin down this disease as it seems to affect different people differently. I like your metaphor of "famished cannibals" for Covid19 but wish it would eat itself out of existence.
Best wishes in the contest!

''famished cannibals'' is not a metaphor, it's a mutated covid so the patients are real cannibals. It's supposed to be scary. I guess I missed the mark. LoL

Thank you very much, Helen. :)
