You continue to write well of your lives in the 70s. The dog is adorable. What happened? Did Carol keep looking after it? Yes, you seem to have had a few unpleasant things happen but as usual, came through with a good spirit. Life goes on as the children grow and become a little more independent with each year.

It seems there is always memories that come back when I think about that time. I didn't know when I started this that I would find so much to write about. My kids seem to forget things and I want them to remember . Things change so fast.

I graduated college in 1976. I remember that time frame well. I am a firm believer every child need a puppy. My husband disagrees with that. LOL Still love reading.

Thank you so much for the review and comments. I blame myself for not teaching Carol how to care for a dog. For years she never wanted another pet but now she has two dog and is very good pet owner.

I know just how you feel when you get water in the carpet and then have to suck it out! We had that happen when we took the kids to a movie. Returned home to water seeping through the floor boards into the basement.

Thank you so much for the review and comments and telling me your experience. It is a sickening feeling. I have bad leaks more that once.

An interesting yet sad write with the loss of Melanies son, how sad for her. I would never have guessed that it woud get cold enough in the deep south for piped to freeze, wow.

Thank you so much for the review and the nice comments. Apparently pipes in the wall freezing was rare. With changing weather patterns these day you don't know what to expect.

I hate to hear Carol had a bad experience with her dog. Hopefully that didn't discourage her from having other pets. It's heartbreaking to hear about Miss. Melony's son. I imagine the water pipes busting was a huge mess. Your story is well-written, very interesting start to finish. I look forward to reading more.

Thank you for the review and for the comments. Carol didn't want a pet for many years but within the last twenty years she is dog owner again and a very good one. I just returned from a weekend trip with her and we took her two dogs, a Yorkie and and Maltese.

Disasters are just a part of life. Clear up one, and here comes another one. That is something you can bank on. This was a very interesting post.

Thank you Rebecca. Yes there is one disaster after another but there is still so much to be thankful for that we are able to cope with whatever life throws our way. I appreciate the review and comments.

Do you ever look back and wonder how you survived it all Beth? Jim always worked away from home or long hours. It seems I raised our children alone mostly, but he tried to make up for it on the weekends he was home. Family outings kept us close. Well done, Dear. Nancy:)

Yes, I do wonder and know I couldn't do it now but I was young then and somehow it didn't seem that bad back then. Thanks so much for the review and comments.

An auto accident, a frozen broken pipe. So many things are happening at once. Unfortunately, sometimes tragedy comes in waves. There's always room for grace and God's tender mercies. Knowing you and like other readers expect, we will see your true grit and faith shinning through. Blessings ahead.

Thank you so much for the review and great comments. I wonder how any of us could ever get through life without realizing that God is looking after us and wants the best for us.

Dear Beth, I never heard of a family that didn't have at least three or four disasters a year. I know that this is probably a good average because it is still happening to me at 81.
Problems within an extended family (of in-laws and outlaws) there's also going to be conflict and tension. Sounds like that was happening to you that winter.

This is true. Life is like a that. Sometimes we're up and then we're down, but I guess we have to be thankful when life is good and deal what ever might happen next. I appreciate the review and comments.

Hello Beth
I will say you know how to keep us fanstorians interested to continue reading with happenings, like this one

We came back home to find the poorly insulated pipes in the wall of our bedroom had broken, and we had five inch deep water on the carpet in our bedroom.
